I totally agree with Taz, we are being regulated up the old wazoo. Like I said before, if the title says OT blah blah and you are not interested in it...then don't read it.
I concur. I would also add that too bad it took six pages worth to say it in one post!

It really dosn't matter what or how many people voted because it is up to the people who run this site and I think that they like it the way it is.

Ditto.
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

You hear many according to the poll.

including me. I don't need to be here. The second day I got my cpap and had an issue it was solved. Had some issues with the hybrid but five minutes on the site with a search and I figured it out.
So I could just go now and not waste my time here. But I like the variety here. If OT's were gone and forums instigated I would be out of here.
On a site like this you need a hook to keep the successful ones interested. Answering the same question for 237 th time is not it. Poking American Republicans on the other hand...

Recently, off-topic (specifically, political) posts, not related to xPAP in any way, shape or form have cropped up and have created a distraction to this wonderful resource. These sorts of discussions, in my opinion, belong on other websites/forums as to not pollute the open exchange of therapy assistance to those users that need it.

I am not a freedom of speech no self responsibility person. However, I don't like strict rules in life without a little leeway.

I don't see why it's necessary to ban OT posts. Its pretty obvious by the subject line, if it's off topic or not and you have a choice of clicking on it or not.

I won't go into it unless it draws my interest. And if I do read an OT, I don't like to see rude and arrogant posts.

I have been in some help forums where people get nasty and rude for no reason. Im glad no one here does that.

People here need refreshing, positive, encouragement.

What do you mean, we're not nasty and rude? Why you ... Naw! I can't - even teasingly - get rude. I'm terrible at being ugly to others. And a lot of folks here are the exact same way. I guess we stink at being an online help forum!

I definitely agree that OT posts are both interesting and sometimes helpful. If I find the OT post offensive to myself or others, then I take action. But otherwise, I can just ignore what annoys me. And if it brightens up someone else, so much the better.

Off topic posts should not be banned but put into their own forum topic.

Which brings up the point: Why isn't this forum organized into categorized subforums like most forums and internet message boards?

Perhaps - New CPAP/BiPAP/APAP Users, Masks, Machines, Software and Off-Topic Discussion? And sort this jumble of discussion threads? It's actually what keeps me from wanting to be an active participant. I know the software (phpBB) is quite robust, I'd like to see its functionality used to greater extent.

Arizona Guy, I used to wonder the same thing until I saw a post by I think the site owner....this forum is kept this way on purpose, because many of the CPAP users may be older folks who may not be so computer friendly. If someone is in a fog because of CPAP and is in desperate need of help, and is not very good on the computer I think the last thing the site owners want is to make it more confusing or to put up what may seem like road blocks to the user. This way, it's at least a little easier and less complicated to ask a question for someone whose cognitive abilities and already poor computer skills may be severely and adversely affected by sleep apnea.

I think that's also why a guest can post a question without registering.

When I read that, I quit whining to myself about how it was setup. There's not a better forum than this one to get help, and that's why I stick around, hopefully I can offer a little hope or guidance to someone, even if the forum layout doesn't quite fit my liking.
