So I've been on the CPAP for three weeks as of this coming Monday. I think changing to the nasal pillow helped a ton! I sleep all through the night and don't wake up til morning. I am, however, still sleepy in the morning and by about 3:00 PM. Not sure if it's related to the treatment though because of the second half of my subject line: my blood pressure has not lowered at all.
I was tested for apnea because of fairly recent heart problems with my blood pressure going up and then dropping suddenly. My blood pressure has still been running high and today I had a drop of 60 points in the systolic in about ten minutes. It's kind of disappointing because I had hoped this was the problem all along. I had hoped that once I got on the treatment and stayed on it, my BP would drop and maybe I'd just had it since I was a toddler and no one knew until now. I guess the blood pressure is unrelated.
I see my cardiologist Wednesday and my sleep doctor I think the week after that. I hope I can find a solution.
But the good news is I am getting used to the CPAP. Tried to take a nap without it after my heart episode today and couldn't sleep so I guess that's a good thing! My nose doesn't even get sore anymore! Thanks for the encouragement everyone!

Well, maybe it will take a little longer. I think I've read that it's not immediate on some people.

Re: CPAP and Blood Pressure
Give it a few months. Your body has to recover from years of sleep deprivation. I was able to stop my BP med only last month, after about 10 months of CPAP and losing about 20 pounds.

Took months to see enough drop to begin halving Cozaar & 18 months to drop it completely. I had life-long low BP until OSA, then at tentative OSA diagnosis my BP was 215/110...yikes!!! There are other members whose BP at diagnosis was higher and they too now have normal pressure without meds.

Do you know what your pressure is set at?
By the way, the equipment listed in your equipment list is wrong. That machine won't work with the humidifier you've listed. Does your machine say "Philips Respironics" and REMstar Auto on the top? If so, the correct item will be the same one I have listed in my equipment list. Click that link to see a picture.

Re: CPAP and Blood Pressure
Thanks for the info about my machine. I did update it. I guess I didn't realize PR stood for Philips Respironics (lol).
Anyway, my pressure is set at 6.
I will keep hoping I suppose. Never hurts to hope. Do people usually lose weight? My doctor never mentioned that but as we know, my doctor doesn't seem to be very competent.
I think I kinda jinxed myself though because last night my nose hurt again. I think I was sleeping funny though because I believe I'm starting to get shingles all over my left side of my back. This is not my year.

Re: CPAP and Blood Pressure
I have had normal to borderline high BP and have been taking dyazide for it. I've been on cpap since last november and my diastolic pressure has dropped considerably. Was in the 80-90 range and now is in the 60-70 range. Not much change in the systolic. I have not lost any weight either.
