This seems pretty obvious to me, but here is a scientific study of what happens when you stop using CPAP even for one night:

Yes, obvious to us sleepies.
I suppose they needed the data. My hats off to those brave test subjects.
I'm not sure I could fall asleep without the CPAP, much less manage 2 weeks without it.
They would have to pry it from my cold fingers.

Yup. This one was pretty darned obvious for anyone who *needs* xPAP therapy. In fact, it was this concern that kept me compliant:

Fortunately, I never had an accident due to my sleep apnea. But that was always my worry. I felt so much better on xPAP therapy that I no longer had to worry about a bad car accident (from falling asleep). So the equation "Use xPAP device = Feel better" made compliance a simple and obvious choice!

Left my power supply cord (12 volt) at home on my last trip. Went through one night without it. didn't look at the clock but i was staring at the ceiling from an abrupt wakening about every 15 minutes. I never even got to the snoring stage according to my host.
The next morning I asked him if he had a 120AC/12volt D/C converter, he said he had better. Pulled out the CPAP he no longer needed after losing 60 pounds. I adjusted the air from his 8 to my 14 and had a wonderful night of sleep that evening.
