So I have a new Respironics machine - with A-flex. The doctor told me to send in the data card after two weeks to see how i'm doing. I tried calling my company and they never called me back with guidance.
Tonight i took the SD card out and slid the little bar on it - was that a mistake? when i put it back in the machine it said "free space 100%" - did i erase the contents of the card?
I feel less well-rested with this auto-pap and wanted the doc to check my numbers. i think i might go back to cpap in the meantime. been at this almost two years and have the mask EXACTLY right, but the quality of sleep i believe
could still be much better. any guidance from this group appreciated!
DME IS LAME - PLEASE HELP
Re: DME IS LAME - PLEASE HELP
I think sliding that little bar only locks the card so that nothing can be altered on the card and keeps the card from being erased.
If your computer has a SD slot you can put the card in the slot and go open the SD card to see if there is anything in there.
Were you using the software and slid the bar to put the card in read only mode? There is no need to do this unless you were just being extra cautious. SleepyHead doesn't erase any data and Encore Pro specifically needs a check mark put in the erase this card area.

Re: DME IS LAME - PLEASE HELP
I slide the little clip on my SD card to lock it when I download data, since I don't want to change the data in any way, in case the sleep Dr or the DME needs it for anything. After I download the data off the card, I slide the clip back the way it was when I took it out of my CPAP and insert it back into my CPAP machine. I am no computer whiz, but I think if you just slide that clip back and put it back into your XPAP machine, it will go back to how it was when you first took it out. I am still pretty new to CPAP, so I don't know how to answer your other questions. I;m sure some other members will be along with some answers. Don't give up""""your health is worth it!!!!

Just to clarify-- Encore Pro 2 does erase the card unless the box is unchecked. On the Encore Pro 2.5, it needs to be checked to erase the card.Pugsy wrote:SleepyHead doesn't erase any data and Encore Pro specifically needs a check mark put in the erase this card area.

Re: DME IS LAME - PLEASE HELP
When using the Encore Pro Smart card with the DT 3500 card reader EP 2.4 and 2.5 does indeed default with a check mark in the box to erase the card. So this pertains to machine models M series and older.Paper_Nanny wrote: Just to clarify-- Encore Pro 2 does erase the card unless the box is unchecked. With the new PR S1 machines and use of the SD cards for some reason that "erase the card" box is no longer defaulting with the check mark. In either Pro 2.4 or 2.5.
So unless I see that that someone is using the older machine and the Smart card I don't dwell on removing that check mark since it no longer gets placed by default when using the SD card.

You can go back to cpap mode with your machine. I have the same one and so do a few others. I sleep so much better on cpap mode than I do on auto, so what I do is.....use the mchine in cpap mode, but about once a month or so I will switch back to auto mode just to see if my breathing is still where it should be. I find that in auto mode I wake up when the machine ramps up to treat an apnea. Also in auto mode my ahi is slightly higher (0.0 to 0.6) than in cpap, which is usually 0.0 to 0.2.
Cheers
