How can I tell if I'm leaking too much?

Post by indyredsfan » Thu Aug 04, 2011 1:59 pm

Hello. If you've read my earlier posts you know that I bought a used M-Series Pro with the intention of being able to get AHI and Leak data. However, something seems ot be wrong with the machine, and it is not capturing that data. This machine essentially acts like a non-data "brick." I'll be getting a new data capable machine in couple of weeks. Until then, how can I tell if I'm leaking too much to get effective therapy? I have two masks, a nasal pillow and a nasal mask. Both seem to work well for me. I have a fairly low pressure (8), so it doesn't seem to be that hard to maintain a good seal. If I can't hear or feel any leaking other than what's coming from the vents, is it safe to assume I do not have significant leaks. Will leaks that are large enough to matter always manifest themselves by being able to either hear or feel them?

dry mouth is one symptom of leaking (if it's coming thru your mouth)

I usually check for small puddles near my ankles and wet socks

I would think so. At least, that's how I look at it.

Aw ya beat me to it, the subject line was too good to pass up!
Thinking of quitting CPAP?

No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:

Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.
