0.0 AHI

Post by Mark184 » Sun Jul 31, 2011 8:27 am

I'm a newbie, having just started using the S9 autoset, with the Swift FX nasal pillows, all of one week ago. My question is, looking at the results of 6 nights sleep, is this machine doing anything for me? By the looks of AHI & AI Events/hr, reading 0.0, the machine is either doing it's job 100%, or there's no need! I see others on this board with higher numbers in this category.

I have a check in with my respiratory therapist in one week, and should probably ask him this question, but let me use this reason for my first post!

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Unplug your machine and then plug it in again. This forces the internal software to reboot. There have been a few other reports of the machine being stuck on zero....Reboot seems to fix the issue.

While sometimes zero AHI can be obtained. Even someone without OSA will have a random event now and then to have 7 nights of zero is not normal. This should be discussed with supplier (DME) as your machine does not seem to be reporting correctly.

I have the same issue as my AHI has been 0.00 for a week now. I will try the reboot.

I'd be interested in what your sleep lab study reported for Apnea/Hypopnea Index for comparison.

I think my sleep study was about 42ph. 9 were centrals and the rest OSA.

I will tell how it went tomorrow.I had already taken it back to the sleep instructor but he wasnt having any of it. He said it was fine.

I will call my sleep tech tomorrow and share these 0.0 results with him. Then I'll share what he says with this board.

I had a call from Resmed this afternoon and to keep it concise they still insist that the S9 VPAP Adapt SV can give this sort of result ie 0.00.

I spoke with my sleep technician this morning. He told me that he is not that surprised to hear an AHI of 0.0 from me, since he said my sleep study showed more of an issue with "respiratory arousals more than apnea episodes"- and that those do not necessarily show up as AHI's. He seemed okay after hearing the my 95th percentile pressure was 6.3 since that seemed to indicate to him that the S9 was doing it's thing. I have a two week check in with him next week, and he says he wants me to bring the whole unit in instead of just the card so he can check everything.

I'm new to all of this, so please excuse me if I'm getting any of these terminologies wrong. I (think) I'm repeating what I'm being told, and using this board to figure all of that out!!

This is a great board. Thanks to all who make it work!

You are a legend Pugsy,I powered my machine down yesterday and today for the first time in two weeks I got a AHI reading of 2.0. Sure not as good as 0.00 but at least I know its real.

I sure did not want to throw cold water on such spectacular results but it just is really rare to have completely zero AHI multiple nights consecutively. In over 2 years I have had only one zero AHI night. I might have zero OA but I usually would have at least a couple of little Hyponeas. All zeros...not impossible but sure not common.

Doing the forced reboot takes just a couple seconds, so I figure easy to do to check out. Hurts nothing to try and sometimes it works.

Congrats on the 2.0... That is still something to be proud of, especially for being new to all this. Good job.
