Hybrid vs Liberty masks - your opinion please!!
I have pretty much given up on using any type of nasal interface because of bursts of air coming into my cheeks and keeping me awake. I have gotten lots of good suggestions about that but nothing seems to help. Right now I am doing best on M Quattro but have to add a chin strap because my chin drops and I get aerophagia. My last option seems to be eith the Hybrid or the Liberty so I am looking for opinions and suggestions.
Thanks in advance!!
Thanks in advance!!

If your chin's dropping on the Quattro... you won't be able to get rid of the chin strap with the liberty as it doesn't go under the chin. The Hybrid does.
Re: Hybrid vs Liberty masks - your opinion please!!
I love the hybrid, although I'm like Roster and I cut the chin flap off....to damn hot and sticky. My mouth flapped open with the quattro too but not with the hybrid. Read Rosters "Taming the Hybrid" and you will get lots of hints. I'm not enthralled with Resmed, so didn't try the Liberty. I think the Hybrid has more choices of size going for it, 3 sets of pillows,3 sets of cushions, and you can cut the pillow tab if your nares are each a different size, then put a different size in each nare.

And I love my hybrid BECAUSE of the chin flap and that it comes with 3 sizes of nasal pillows and 3 sizes of mouth pillows. But I do use the elastic across the nasal pillows to keep them in my tilted nose

I vote Hybrid. Admittedly I never tried the Liberty, but it doesn't come with all the sizes, and I like the chin flap.

I've used both (the Hybrid through sleepnationtv's exchange program) and for MY FACE, the Liberty Mirage works better, with less leaks, however I love the chin strap/support with the Hybrid as I meant I didn't have to use a chinstrap as well.

How much adjusting did you have to do with the Hybrid to get it to work? I had it home from sleepnationtv but I think I was too impatient to give it a fair chance. I glanced at Roster's "taming" hints but the length of the list of hints scared me off. I will have to revisit it.xenablue wrote:I've used both (the Hybrid through sleepnationtv's exchange program) and for MY FACE, the Liberty Mirage works better, with less leaks, however I love the chin strap/support with the Hybrid as I meant I didn't have to use a chinstrap as well.

Are you using a Swift LT now? Did you have any trouble going from ffm to nasal pillows? I can't seem to get them to work for me on asv and I am jealous!

I am very interested and wish to learn more! I have never seen a hybrid mask. However, because I am mouth breathing it is a possible solution.

Re: Hybrid vs Liberty masks - your opinion please!!
There are lots of adjustments and the critical one is the one on top of the head. Once that one is right the side ones just fall into place. It took me a couple of evenings and many 4 letter words to get that far but once I added the elastic strap (lingerie elastic) then I was the best mask ever. I need the extra strap because my nose tilts up and I have a long upper lip. The slightest twitch and they pillows pop out.Bright Choice wrote: How much adjusting did you have to do with the Hybrid to get it to work? In case you may have missed this earlier, here's a pic of me when I used to use the Hybrid.(yes, it's ME!)DaveL wrote: I have never seen a hybrid mask.

LOL!
...but seriously, I did like it much better than the Liberty. I especially liked the chin flap. But if you ever have a stuffy nose, like I am often bothered with, this mask can be tough to deal with. All that cold air rushing up my nose was a bit unpleasant for me.

Re: Hybrid vs Liberty masks - your opinion please!!
I have a Liberty on the way from my DME. I have completely given up on every single full face mask including the total face by Respironics. I really hope the Liberty is the answer. Otherwise, I will be taping and using a chin strap with my Swift FX forever I guess

Re: Hybrid vs Liberty masks - your opinion please!!
Well, I wanted the Hybrid to work, (Much cheaper), but that was not the case with me. I could never get it to stop leaking. Even using Roosters advice. I finally gave it away. Since all the other FFM's also leaked (Tried at DME) I tried the Liberty. Riducusly expensive, but it worked better than anything else I tried. Then when I got the small mouth piece (Resmed gave it to me) it quickly became my favorite mask. (I get stuffed up alot) I still like nose pillows when my nose is not clogged because there is almost nothing there, but I find I use the Liberty more and more.

Re: Hybrid vs Liberty masks - your opinion please!!
I found the Liberty to be among the most uncomfortable masks I tried. My DME sadly didn't stock the Hybrid for me to try.

Re: Hybrid vs Liberty masks - your opinion please!!
It is very individual. I bought the Hybrid online out of pocket. the Liberty was from the DME. I only buy online now because my DME and I had a falling out. (I didn't want to pay his prices). Since I buy online which means out of pocket (Thanks O'care) I really wanted the Hybrid to work but no such luck.
