Problem reading card with PR S1 BiPAP

Post by cwsanfor » Fri Jul 22, 2011 3:27 am

I got a Phillips Respironics System One Auto BiPAP to replace my defunct Respironics BiPAP (Tank) yesterday, and when I try to read the data card, Encore Pro 2.4 freezes (the program window goes white and says "Not responding").

I wonder if:

1) It is a problem to have EP 1.8 and 2.4 installed at the same time (since I cannot apparently migrate the patient from 1.8 to 2.4, I was going to leave the old version installed),
2) Is a proprietary card reader for the PC needed, like the old Infineer SmartCard reader for 1.?
3) Is this data card bad (it also crashes Windows Explorer when I try to read it)?
4) Something else?

Thanks in advance.

Guess the card could be bad as Explorer should read the card. Another card like the ones used in digital camera's would rule that out.

You are talking about the SD card here, right? If so, it's not proprietary. You shouldn't remove this card when the machine is writing to it.

I have both EP 1.8 & 2.4 installed and working on Win7 64/Ult with no problems.

Thanks, Gumby, it was indeed a bad card. A new card works fine.

One more question: on the PR S1 Auto BiPAP, does a prescription written to the card get read by the machine when you power the BiPAP up with the card in, as was the case with the old Respironics CPAP/APAP/BiPAP's?

Thanks again.

It could also be that that just that file is corrupt. Try erasing the card.

Although I think "erasing" is an incorrect term. It kinda **rem** s it out.

There should not be a problem having 1.8 installed along 2.4. In the Help section under Patients it talks about moving database from 1.8 to to 2.4. Only problem from what I see is that it lists compliance use only. No detailed data.
I see you say a new card works now.

Yes, a prescription written to the card will be read by the machine and do what the RX says.

I am not sure exactly when the prescription is read.

As for if it is just a file on the card? There is more than one file on the card. Exactly when does it lock up Explorer?
Will it run a checkdisk? Or even format it?

I can't find specifics about when RX would be read but I am thinking immediately upon re-insertion of the SD card. When the machine is reading the insertion of the card.
One could easily check by making small pressure change then going into the LED set up screen and see what pressures are showing.
