stilllll wearing my Sylent mask

Post by sleepyhead1 » Fri Jul 15, 2011 8:25 pm

i am so getting used to sleeping with my sylent mask. I am loving it actually. @ Bleeping Beauty, you use the Hybrid. Please tell me about the mask and what you like about it. Is there anything you don't like about it? I am open to trying it if it's good.thanks

Hi again. Glad to hear the Sylent is still working well for you.

What I like about the Hybrid:
  • It's a full-face mask that doesn't cover my nose
  • The chinflap helps me keep my mouth closed when I'm sleeping, but if I have to mouth-breathe, I can
  • There's nothing pressing on my forehead
  • It's comfortable
  • It handles some big pressure swings in my therapy with minor, if any, leaks most of the time
  • Lots of sizing options with it. The mask comes with three sizes of mouth cushion and three sets of nasal pillows. The pillows can be separated, so you can use two different sizes if need be, and the pillows are also height-adjustable.
There's really nothing I don't like about the Hybrid. The only caveat is that most of us who use it (or the Mirage Liberty - similar design) have to employ some sort of "fix" to keep the nasal pillows in place all night. For me, that's a very minor "inconvenience" (if I'd even call it that) for the good therapy I get.

If you're considering a backup full-face mask (for times when you're too congested to breathe easily through your nose), I think that's a good idea. Best to have something on hand to use in that situation than to find yourself unable to use the only mask you have.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))

PR S1 ASV 950, DreamWear mask, F&P 150 humidifier, O2 @ 2L.

I use the hybrid too and concur with everything Bleepingbeauty said. I now have two of them so I am good to go for a long time.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.
