Swift FX Nasal pillow problem

I'm still new to CPAP, so haven't really figured out what is considered normal or what is considered a problem.

Compared to the Mirage something or other Nasal Mask that I used for about a week, I really like the Swift FX Nasal pillow. The previous mask was kind of bulky and I had never ending leaking problems with it. It first started out to leak just when I was on my side, then it got to the point that it would leak just when I put it on.

The Swift FX is very light weight and doesn't protrude much from my face, so when I sleep on my side gravity doesn't pull it away as much. However, I still have some problems with it being pulled away by the hose. Sometimes the weight and or stress of the hose pulls the nasal pillow down such that I get leaks around the front of my nostrils. I fix this by pushing the hose towards my nose without moving the rest of my head or body at all. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a better mask that has a more rigid portion that connects to the hose?

Thanks! Interesting contraption. I can try just tying my hose to my headboard to see if that helps and if it does, I may invest in this device.

I'm trying to get a full nights sleep to see if I feel any better. With CPAP, I know I feel less sleepy during the day, but I still wake up 3-5 times per night. I'm trying to eliminate anything that can cause me to wake during the night and this may help with that.

I switched to the Opus 360 nasal pillows, which fixed the problem. This mask allows you to attach the hose to the top of the headgear so the hose moves with you while you sleep. I just thread the hose up under my pillow, and it almost never gets in the way or pulls on my mask. Plus, as an added bonus, the pillows are more durable and don't need to be replaced as often.

I also cover the nasal pillow with lanolin (stuff for breast feeding mothers to help heal there). This helps make a good seal and keeps me from getting sores on my nostrils. I've used KY too, but it seems to evaporate after an hour or so.

The Swift FX is a great mask and I use one most of the time. I also use the Swift LT which has a frame down either side of your cheeks and affords more stability for me if I turn a lot. I also use the Swift II which also has a frame for stability but has a barrel-type pillows. It works well but it will keep you on your back and one side as the hose leaves the frame from either side you chose. The LT and the FX hoses mount to the front and allow turning to either side. I like to swap around just to do something different and I have low leak levels with either of the three. I said all that to say if you like the FX you would also like either of the two I mentioned.

I also use a hose buddy and the hose remains in the same position regardless of which of these three I wear. When I turn it turns with me so I don't wake up turning the buddy myself.

I am using the Hose Buddy with my Swift Fx.

Last night the 95% leak value was 0. There was a leak or two.
I used the small pillow the first night and the leak rate was a problem. Switched to the medium pillow and that took care of it.

I typically start the night on my left side and then switch to the right side an hour or two before wake up time.
