White filter goes in first then the black foam one.

Now for your next question . . .

The plastic-like side of the white filter goes in toward the machine.

And be aware that the filters pop out easily, probably when you cough with the mask on from back pressure. I use an elastic band around my machine to hold the filters in place. Some people swear it won't happen if you cut off the little tab on the white filter, but I've still managed to pop them out.

You have to get the Tab-less new filters Respironics has started making for the PR System One series. These also should work in the older M Series. In the OEM quest for lower decibels, Respironics has engineered a better fitting quite filter. Google CPAP Filters and Supplies - Many sites will pop up that sell them.
