Just understand that screeners tend to "do what they are told" rather than risk their job trying to appear sensible. They can't afford it. Someone way above them in the food chain is making blanket decisions, and many middle managers are relaying the information.... Trust me, they would prefer not to swipe your CPAP machine.

I flew from Richmond to Sacramento, and then from Portland to Richmond again. Richmond didn't swab it, but Portland did, and yelled at me for not pulling it out of the bag for them. I'd figured since I'd read here that they weren't swabbing them anymore that it was okay not to. Oops.

Did you tell them that you read it here?

They're just a bunch of dumb minimum wage making loafs that can't get it together anywhere else. Things are different from one airport to another, no consistency. In fact, the only thing I have seen that is consistent everywhere I travel is the lax, lazy, careless, shiftless, wanna be's passing themselves off as specialists, making sure they feed their ego's with their little tin god power trips. I tell you, when I come in from overseas, I can IMMEDIATELY tell I'm back in the good ole USA. I can tell because as soon as I walk down the jetway and down to baggage claim, through customs and immigration I can see every single one of them is a fat, slow, angry, disrespectful, disgruntled, unhelpful, lazy looking piece of crap just there to collect a paycheck. I'm embarrassed to see them on the job. It's like welcome to America, home of the lazy, disrepectful, freeloading, uneducated and entitlement driven TSA worker. It's a crying shame and they are an outright embarrassment.

You're mistaken. There making much more than minimum wage. The management is making exponentially more than that and that's where the problems lie.
Remember that someone created 70,000 jobs with the stroke of a pen to make the american population feel "safe" enough to go out and shop.
They threw money at a problem and now we are stuck with it.

Yea, they really make around what, say 35k to start? Way overpaid then, for the professionalism they exude. And, yes, we are pretty much "stuck" with it, since the closest thing to eternity on earth is a government program. We can undo it, just will take a long long time and the repetitive election of common sense conservatives to Congress and the White House over decades and allowing them to appoint conservative judges on the federal benches. In other words, were stuck.

That's who gave us TSA!

I thought they would let it through if it was being used to keep medications cold. I never had a problem with my partially melted packs.

Yes, and according to TSA guidelines, you do have the right to ask the person inspecting those things to put on clean gloves and use a clean swabby thing to avoid contamination.

Hardly. Ole Nancy and her BFF Reid did, along with a couple of big public sector unions lobbying for it, and a few RINO's, yes. True conservatives don't believe in ever expanding programs with more governmental control over their lives or the higher taxes required to pay for it all. Listen to the word: CONSERVATIVE. Meaning, to CONSERVE. A true one will believe in a smaller less intrusive government, and less taxes among other things. If you know of just one true conservative that helped give us the TSA, name them please.

Conservative in political contexts has always meant protecting the status quo and slowing/resisting change.
islandboy5150 wrote:A true one will believe in a smaller less intrusive government, and less taxes among other things.
That's essentially a Libertarian position, not an intrinsically Conservative one.

True Bill, but, Bush was no conservative. He was/is a progressive RINO. I'm really just upset that we all keep getting lied to by spineless politicians, getting overbearing corrupt inefficient government entities running every aspect of our lives, and then taking more and more of our hard earned pay to cover the skyrocketing costs of it all.

But, back to my original opine, I'm truly sickeningly embarrassed every time I look around at the airport workers and see a bunch of lazy slobs that have no sense of pride. You can see in their face the look of disregard, disrespect, carelessness, and general bad attitude. Sickens me it does. If that's what America has come to, were in worse shape than I thought. The end...... sorry for the rant.

Unfortunately, the 95 year old in the wheelchair encountered a TSA inspector
who hadn't gotten the memo specifying diaper inspection only if it's on the other end.

Isnt it a shame, when does this crap stop? Feeling up 6 year old girls, checking dying granny's underwear? I mean really, when will they work in a way that makes sense?

If that comment s supposed to mean that the TSA agents are only to inspect someone wearing a turban or similar headdress, not only is that rude, it's definitely uncalled for and even down right racist.

I thought us CPAP'ers were above that.
