Bug In My Tank

Post by mundanenoodle » Fri Jun 24, 2011 9:07 pm

So last night as I was going to bed I checked my tank to see if it needed filled. As I peeked in I saw a giant pincher bug in the tank! It's a sealed tank of course so the only way it could have gotten in there was to crawl in the mask and down the tube! Pretty gross! Needless to say I had a little trouble going to sleep that night!

It is very nice of you to share that warm moist "cave" with the creatures of the earth...

More likely it crawled in thru the air intake then into the water tank. It's a lot shorter distance. Do you have filters on your machine? Not that that alone will keep creatures out.

Sometime ago someone had taken a picture of what looked like a cockroach caught in their hose and posted the picture to the forum.
Ever since then before I put on my mask, I always let some air blow out for a couple of seconds thinking that will give any small bugs a chance to fly out before I put it on. However, after reading your story, I'm going to take that tank out EVERY night to make sure no bugs are floating in the water.

When you live 'green'-(without various chemicals, --insecticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizer, etc.)
checking for bugs becomes a habit--no big deal.
--Some are even edible; though I've never eaten any on purpose.

Well, it takes a pretty small bug to crawl thru a filter...especially the white one!

"I found a bug in my humidifier tank!"

"What was he doing in there?"

"The backstroke!"

ANOTHER reason for emptying your tank in the AM and refilling it at night!!

Up until 15 seconds ago, I have always allowed the unit to sense that I have the mask on, and allowed it to start by itself.
That feature has been disabled as of 10 seconds ago!!!!

Me too! I think that was gvz who posted the pic. I'd never even heard of an earwig before that. Couple nights ago I saw one crawling across my living room floor, took care of it but couldn't help but wonder if it had siblings. Resisted the impulse to google but was afraid I'd find they hatch in batches of hundreds and never go more that a few yards from their nest. LOL Decided ignorance is bliss in this situation.

I look in my tank each nite to see if I need to add water
