I completed my first week of CPAP use and I have to say it's made a huge difference. I had two days of awesome sleep (asterisks) and felt so rested the next day. I cannot believe how much better I feel. I wanted to share my first week of numbers and get some input, especially on those two days of great sleep (asterisks). I'm still trying to figure out what made the difference on those two days, so I'm hoping the more experienced CPAPers here can give me some feedback. My Doc set my pressure at 6cm and I'm using the a-flex feature on my machine.
I have the reports but also use a spreadsheet to take the most important values (to me, at least) and log those daily:
---------- quality ----------------- avg ----------------avg
date ----- of sleep -- 90% --- MaP -- cpap --- vs --- ahi --- leak
==========================================
jun 16-17 ---3.0 --- 5.5 --- 61.4 --- 4.4 --- 1.1 --- 1.2 --- 18.6
jun 17-18 ---5.0 --- 7.5 --- 48.8 --- 5.6 --- 2.6 --- 0.2 --- 22.0 ** great sleep day!!
jun 18-19 ---3.0 --- 6.5 --- 236.4 -- 5.3 --- 1.8 --- 1.6 --- 21.0
jun 19-20 ---2.0 --- 6.7 --- 48.9 --- 5.5 --- 2.2 --- 1.0 --- 22.8
jun 20-21 ---4.5 --- 7.0 --- 106.5 -- 5.8 --- 0.6 --- 1.4 --- 26.0 ** another really good sleep day!
jun 21-22 ---4.0 --- 6.8 --- 128.2 -- 5.5 --- 0.4 --- 0.8 --- 18.2
jun 22-23 ---3.5 --- 7.0 --- 90.9 --- 5.8 --- 3.8 --- 1.1 --- 24.0
My quality of sleep scale is: 1=poor, 2=avg, 3=better, 4=pretty good, 5=great

Re: First week of therapy numbers: feedback?
Overall numbers are quite good.
Check your daily detailed graphs to see if you happened to have any little groups of events. Sometimes these clusters can impact how we feel next day despite low AHI.
Also try to remember if sleep is fragmented for any reason. Also look at hours of sleep. Both will impact how we feel.
Finally some nights are just better than others and we don't ever know why.
You are doing very well for the first week.

Re: First week of therapy numbers: feedback?
Thanks for the feedback, Pugsy. I'm glad to hear it's looking good. I'm really quite pleased with how it's gone the first week, despite struggles with the mask, nasal pillows, etc. I do run my reports daily, quite obsessively. I noticed, for example, those times when my leak rate went up and down - in my Comments field on my spreadsheet I had marked down that I woke up with one nasal pillow a bit dislodged which accounted for some of the higher leak rate one night, I believe. Marking comments down seems to be a very important part of following all of this.Pugsy wrote:Overall numbers are quite good.

I'm going to go back and review the clusters of events and hours of sleep, as you state. Hopefully it will tell me more; I'm still working on comprehending all the data.
