Hi from yet another new member
Hi, everyone. I've been reading these forums for the past few weeks, ever since I was diagnosed with moderate OSA, and have learned quite a lot. Like so many others, I've been very impressed with the high level of discussion here and appreciate the friendliness of the community. It's a really wonderful resource.
I have no machine yet. My titration study was just last night, and it's not clear whether my neurologist will have time to write a prescription before she takes off on vacation. But I'm hoping for quick action. Though I was a little slow to fall asleep with the mask last night, once I was asleep I was fine. Waking up is never good for me, especially after only five hours' sleep , even more especially not at five in the morning, but this morning it was fine. (Clicky ears, but compared to what others have experienced that's nothing.) I've read enough to know that this one good night doesn't mean everything will go smoothly when I start with my own machine (though it's still not clear to me why that should be any different from the night at the clinic), but I am hopeful.

Welcome, inkblot.
Here's a link that might be helpful to you when the time comes to accept (or reject) whatever machine the DME tries to give you. You'll want a machine that can record leak and AHI info. The ones in blue do that; the ones in red do not:
viewtopic.php?p=307168#p307168
Also, do dig into Janknitz's great info:

Hope everything goes very well for you!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody! I've read all the recommended information (and much more, too) and have a file of preparation notes.
I can't imagine how people go through all this without the help of this community.
Best,
Susan

Re: Hi from yet another new member
Make sure you get a mask that works for you. Check what's out there--cpap.com has a huge assortment--first time you want the insurance.
Try-outs and a 30 day fit guarantee are your right if you are buying from a local brick and mortar DME provider.
Don't let anyone bulldoze you into a machine or mask that won't work.
