FF Mask Question

Post by Lee Lee » Sat Jan 28, 2006 7:16 am

Does anyone have the Flexifit 431 FF mask? I got one yesterday, and it came with a medium seal.
I seem to need a small, but I can't figure out how to put the new one on. Does it go in the grooves, or outside? The instructions don't say.

Hi Lee Lee,

One of my "collection" is a FF FLexifit.

The small cushion goes IN the groove, between the outside of the shell and the next ridge. It should fit right in without a problem. It's much easier to put in than an Ultra Mirage.

Hope you get it on correctly and that it fits.

Dont forget the Flexifit fits under the chin and not just over the mouth and nose.

You can use a chin strap with the Flexifit to help seal the bottom half better if you have leaks there, and that also helps to keep the mask from bearing down on the bridge of your nose so hard.

I had to do some trim work on mine. The gaskets have really thin inside edges that flapped against the side of my nose alot and drove me to distraction.

If you end up having to do a trim job, be very careful. any irregular cuts will create areas that'll tear easier.

If you have itch issues on the outside of your nose, like I did, I found some relief by putting a strip of medical tape accross the end of my nose to "armor" it up some.

PS, If you do try the chin strap, you dont have to put it on at all tight. Just having it on, even loosly will put enough additional pressure on the parts of the gasket that stick out from the hard plastic shell to hold em sealed better.
That way, you can still breathe normally through your mouth if you wish.

Also about the Flexifit. You can adjust how the mask "rides" on your face by how far you push your chin into the mask.

There were enough fit and wear adjustments and options to keep me amused for a couple weeks, just trying everything once.

PPS..or is it PSS? anyhoo, forgot. One thing about the flexifit, for me anyway, was that it had a "natural pivot point" on line with the high points of my cheek bones. If I had it too tight at the top, it would cantilever out at the bottom and leak, too tight on the bottom and I'd get air jets in my eyes. Too tight on either or both spots and I'd wake up with bruises on my face, on each side of my nose, right in line with the hi points on my cheeks.

Lots to play with, ballance, adjust, mess around with and experiment on. I kinda miss it. Too bad the Breeze is so dog gone simple.

Wow, it sounds like I have my work cut out for me. I wish I could just put the dang thing on and go nite-nite. But, I guess it wouldn't be as much fun.
I have the Flexifit nasal mask and I love it so much. I forget it's there when I sleep. Unfortunaltley, I have a stuffy nose problem that refuses to go away, no matter what I do. I'm hoping this FF one will help.
Bless y'all for the advice!

Dont let my post scare you any. I am the kind that tends to always go..."...umm..wonder what happens if...."

You might just put the thing on and have it all good to go. Even if that happend to me I'd still ..."....umm..wonder what would happen if..." and a few weeks later probably be right back where I started and happy as a clam
