Goodknight 420G for Travel?

Post by JPZeller » Sun Jan 29, 2006 9:39 am

I have had it with traveling with my REMstar Pro 2 - it's just too large. The 420G LOOKS like a fine alternative as a second machine for travel. I feel I can do without a humidifier and C-Flex on trips, and the 420G (1.75 lbs) looks like the smallest, lightest machine currently available.

I had hoped to have a new M Series machine from Respironics by now, but posts elsewhere on the site make it sound as if it will be a long wait.

Can any of you share your experience, good or bad, with the 420G machine? All input will be appreciated.

Thanks.

JP,

The 420G is a great (and cheap) basic cpap. It would be a great travel unit. It's very light and compact and the form factor makes it great for packing.

(BTW, check your inbox... I sent you a PM many weeks ago that still shows in my outbox... which means it's yet to be read by the recipient )

Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!

Is there a battery or charger one can bring so it can be used on a long overseas flight?

Check with the airline, many now offer 12v sockets for devices like xPAP units.

Lugging a 12v rechargeable Gel cell is another option but they take a while to charge & you have to lug the charger on your travels.

Cheers

DSM
xPAP and Quattro std mask (plus a pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap)

I rented this machine for my overseas trip. I was on the road for 5 weeks. This is a great machine, I am thinking about purchasing it just for traveling so I don't have to take my remstar which is too big and bulky. The Goodknight 420G is so lite it amazed me.

Thanks for all the feedback. I am not interested in using the machine on airplanes, just in minimizing weight and bulk.

Sounds like a winner.

This is a great machine - I use it as my everday machine and also travel with it. It is very quiet and great value at less than $300 in this site. It comes with a small shoulder bag and I can fit the machine, my mask and my hose all in the small bag. Very easy to travel with. I highly recommend it.
