SD card for PR One

Post by ranman » Thu May 26, 2011 9:32 am

I'm looking at purchasing the PR System One Auto cpap machine. When purchased new does it come with the SD card?

What is the largest capacity SD card that will work in the machine and EP2 software? I notice that cpap.com sells the 2GB card separately as well.

The reason that I am curious about any GB limits is that small capacity 2GB cards are becoming more scarce as there are now cards with 32GB and more.

Yes it comes with its own SD card

I get my extra cards at WalMart or my local photo store.

I haven't checked for compatibility of the larger sizes.

I've found that any SD card (regardless of size) seems to work, but the newer SDHC cards will NOT work in my PR S1 BiPAP Auto.

As for why 2G? Well, even a year's worth of data will only fill a small fraction of the card if my own files are any indication.

I do wish that the S1's designers had chosen the more up-to-date SDHC cards when designing the S1. Seems silly to go with an almost obsolete platform when you're designing a machine that's supposed to last for at least a five year cycle for the patient and probably 3--5 years for the manufacturing cycle as well.

Ha, I remember our first computer and we were so impressed it had 128K of hard drive space

I'm not sure about GB limits, but believe me a LOT of data fits in 2 GB. I've been using the same card for a year now and there's still plenty of room.

I understand how much data will fit on the cards and that a 2GB is more than adequate for this function.

My question was related more to what if the 2GB cards are no longer available to purchase or become more difficult to find ( remember the 256MB,512MB, 1GB sizes). Will a larger than 2GB card work with both EP2 software and the machine itself?

If a replacement card was used what is the largest capacity that has worked for you?

On the issue of availability, I purchased 7 2GB cards for just that reason. I think there will be a new machine/card standard before all of those die on me.

The SD 2GB card holds 10 years worth of information according to an email I had received from my therapist who checked with the manufacturer.....

Before that time arrives most people will have another machine or two....
