Where to sell a used CPAP machine?
If I buy one without a script, I'll hide it by my bed, along with my AK 47 and 50 Cal. Two many useless laws protecting the profits of others. Do what you need to, the CPAP Police can't lock us all up. (Without providing hoses to hook us up). I don't mean the same ones they beat us with.

Go to 868.5905.
look at the definition-
Does PAP meet the definition of this ??
non continuous ventilator?
google: 868.5905 fda.
look at the satatue and see for yourself.
Call your FDA man back.
I could be wrong.
Again, why would respironics/resmed oppose sale of their products??

Why would Resmed have pressured eBay so heavily against used CPAP sales? Because every used CPAP sold on eBay brings Resmed absolutely no new revenue. Strike one against used CPAP sales in Resmed's minds.
Not only do those used CPAP machines represent no new profit for Resmed... but they also compete on the open market against new machines that Resmed might be selling those eBay consumers. Strike two against used CPAP sales in Resmed's minds.
It is clearly not in any CPAP manufacturer's financial interest to promote the widespread sale of used CPAP machines that will compete with sales of their brand new machines. Especially when used CPAP machines are so rampantly abundant (in light of CPAP's fifty-some-percent compliance rate).
That's why Resmed pressuere eBay so heavily to pull used CPAP machines from the world's largest marketplace (a.k.a. "eBay").

CPAPs for sale
The reason ResMed and the other CPAP makers would oppose the auction of CPAPs on eBay, etc. is obvious. It would dig into their sales. Think about it. The bail-out rate on people using CPAPS is 30% to 50%, which means there are MILLIONS of used CPAPs sitting in people's closets and drawers. If it was easy for people to sell them on eBay then RedMed and their pals wouldn't sell as many CPAPs. I think there are also legitimate issues in that nobody wants people buying broken CPAPs and setting their own pressures.
If I had known I would have lived this long, I would have taken better care of myself.
Wish I'd have thought of that angle. The reason ResMed and the other CPAP makers would oppose the auction of CPAPs on eBay, etc. is obvious. It would dig into their sales. Think about it. Prescriptions
BTW, tj, you need a prescription for your mask, too, according to the FDA:
tomjax mask
Calls to an internet provider and DME confirmed this. Course, they sort of said, "Well, yeah, I suppose, errr, ahhh..."
Now, if this is NOT the case and somebody has documentation that prescriptions aren't required, let me know cause it would sure save a lot of work for me.

someone please find the law that cpap requires a Rx to be sold.
I did this before.

Not sure why this keeps resurfacing. No matter how many times it gets brought up, a prescription is required. Tom, I know you don't think that a CPAP is a non-continuous ventilator, but the FDA does, and they are the ones who make the rules. You might contact them to try to get CPAP reclassified, but I doubt that effort would be very successful.
You are more than welcome to contact the FDA. The gentleman I talked to was Mr Geoffrey S Clark, Consumer Safety Officer 800.638.2041 x122

Try http://www.medmarketplace.com. It's a great site to list your CPAP or BIPAP!

I wondering if anyone on here knows anyplace where I can sell a used CPAP machine. The machine I have is a Remstar Plus. My ex-wife used it for one week and stuck it in the closet. Anyway, I was cleaning out the closet and figured I would try to sell it to someone that could use it. I am just not sure of anywhere I can sell this at. Ebay stopped allowing the sale of CPAP equipment, or I would just sell it there. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

used cpap
I paid $1300 for my CPAP with humidifier and used it for less than 200 hours. I would like to recoup some of this money by selling to.
