Where to sell a ResMed VPAP Adapt SV

Post by Bandnuts » Sat May 14, 2011 9:25 pm

After my first sleep study (January) I was prescribed a standard CPAP machine by my DR and received a new S9 Elite courtesy of my insurance company. However.....

The machine corrected obstructive apneas (taking me from 75 AHI) but the machine did not address Central apneas. Using the S9 Elite, I was still having having over 30 AHI. As things progressed, I ended up getting a second sleep study. This new study verified the centrals and my need for a VPAP machine. However, who pays?????

I ended up purchasing an excellent used VPAP machine to use while my DR, DME, and Insurance company hashed out who pays (that took about 3 months). Just this week everything was settled and I now have a new S9 VPAP machine. Now what do I do with the machine I purchased to use during the "hashing"? Pictures

Is there a place where I can sell a very good VPAP Adapt SV machine to someone that is aware of their needs (not just buying it because the name sounds cool)? These machines are not for normal sleep apnea and I'd like to make sure someone gets it that really needs it and perhaps someone that has insurance issues as I did.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas.

Kap

Not to take away from Madalot -- but have you considered keeping it as a back up machine? If it were me, I would want the peace of mind knowing that if my main machine went out of order I would have a way of receiving treatment while repair/replacement was being done on it.

No worries, sleepycarol. My interest in it was solely for my afternoon recliner naps. If Bandnuts can find someone else that really needs it, or opts to keep it as a backup, it's okay with me.

I have for sure, but in the interest of keeping peace in the family it has to go.

I bought this unit because the price was low and with the agreement (to my wife) that I would sell it when all was settled with the insurance. We just don't want the expense of two machines (I have to pay a monthly fee on my new one and this one was a great deal, but still cost over $700).

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm going to have to find a place to sell it.

Reading posts like this always makes me so glad I have just the plain old variety of osa -- no special machines are needed.

Boy and how! My "backup" machine (a used one) costs more than most new CPAP and BiPAP units. But it's great that I got a backup, since my beloved VPAP Adapt SV has started a "whining" sound when the fan runs. So, time to chat with the DME and see when I can get a new unit.

Let me know if your DME says your timing is too far out...

As it turns out, my ASV machine was still in warranty. By just about 45 days out of 730 days (2 years). Resmed replaced the old unit for free. I think with an ASV machine my insurance will not allow me a new unit but once every four years. So, I lucked out on this situation.

My machine is still available. I've been informed it is a couple of generations old, so I'd be willing to give an interested buyer a nice deal. it could make a good back up machine or a way to get a vpap affordably. It has worked great for me for a couple of years. Send me a PM if interested.

Kaiya was on earlier looking for a good deal on a machine...I will try to contact her and have her get in touch with you! Perhaps it will be something she could use til she finds something better!!

Anybody selling an ASV machine?
I'd rather be supercharged than turbocharged!
