I don't know what kind of mask you're using, but perhaps you could attach the hose above your head, which you might find more arousing.

P.S. I hope you don't mind my having some fun with your posts, which have been the most exciting on-topic posts in awhile.

They are called and labeled "lambskin" but these condoms are actually made from sheep intestines.

I guess if they called it "sheep intestine condoms", no one would buy them.

I feel humiliated now and wish I had never come here to try and help someone else with my trial by many errors.

Next time you all put on your masks look in the mirror.

I'm out here for good.

Oh, dear. I apologize.

I HAVE looked at myself in the mirror, and it is not a pretty sight, that's for sure (especially with the huge orange sunglasses on + the gear). I'm not happy about it, but I laugh at myself, and make Star Wars and Hannibal Lecter jokes, because what else are ya' going to do?

Thanks for sharing your experiences, and again, I apologize for offending you.

Hi again

Well thank you, S, for the PM's.

Now that I've had a few nights sleep.

I'm sorry that I overreacted.

Must be the table napkin alergy that I've developed. LOL

A problem I am having is, I cannot see the twinkle in your eyes, smile upon your face or frown upon your brow when I'm

reading the replies.

The body language from you is missing and it is soooo important for me to help with communication.

My search will continue for a more comfortable and simpler mask/skin seal but not with the desperation of a few months ago.

I look forward to reading other postings and learning more.

Thank you again.

ps Monica is very happliy married with a family and she is about my daughters age.

Hi Sereneh

Thank you for the welcome back.

One issue that I never mentioned before was the water evaporation problem.

My unit holds a pint or two of water.

The machine had displayed the number 5 when it first started up, for a few seconds at least.

I decided at the beginning of the trial not to stray from what I was told to do, at least not much.

I never fiddled with anything.

One irregular night's sleep I woke up about 6 AM and the water was almost totally evaporated.

It was usual for me to add a full jug of water in the mornings up to the plimsal line marked on the water resevoir.

Now it appeared that the water did not last me all night.

This went on until a followup appointment and I mentioned this to Monica

She suggested turning it down to 3.

I did that and it was only slightly better as far as evaporation was concerned.

On my next followup I mentioned this again and I told her what I was thinking of doing.

Adding another inline water container to maybe double the water supply.

During this period I also remembered that during my UBC sleepover the unit they used was at least one size larger overall.

I enquired about that unit and was told it is not available, of course.

Another time down the road I turned the dial to read 1 and now there was enough water for 2 to 3 nights.

I did not try to find another additional water container at that point.

Then about a month ago I turned it to read 0 and there is enough water for about 4 nights, before refilling.

I assume that I have turned the humidifier heater completely off now.

If there is a problem with it set at 0 I don't know what it is.

Other than trial and error with various skin isolators I have not found this lack of humidity to be a problem.

There is always some moisture carried by the movement of air over water, just at a less preditable and controllable amount.

Talk about me putting my foot, and it is a big foot, in my mouth on Wednesday.

I was informed that I will be having the 3rd pacemaker lead installed next Wednesday morning.

I was emailing the doctor's receptionist and I asked if I would be able to play the piano after the surgery.

Another email came back about not picking up anything too heavy for a week and that she would check with the doctor about

the piano playing.

Seeing her first name I assumed she might be Japanese and I quickly sent her an apology email explaining that it is an old joke

and it was directed for the doctor.
.
She wrote back and laughed as she was born in Japan and she is still learning some of our North American jokes.

Whew, I will remove my foot from my mouth in a day or so.

Have a great weekend.

Hi there

Originally I came here to try to help others with my experience of finding out that I had an alergic reaction to my full face

and nose mask, both silcone based materials.

I found a material that would isolate my skin from the silicone allowing me to find relief and pleasure in deep sleeping again.

With almost 1,000 viewers to date, not one person has mentioned a similar alergy problem.

Nor has anyone mentioned that they stop breathing anywhere near my every minute.

I was hoiping that someone would say, "hey table napkin guy", I find your solution a help to me.

I must be a real weirdo.

I'm going in for the 3rd pacemaker lead in the morning.

Vern, sure hope the pacemaker lead procedure goes flawless and you're back soon with a "Hey all, I'm good!" report.

Well, maybe someone willbe helped by all that sometime. But like everyone said, silicone allergy is very rare.

Hey, good luck tomorrow! Let us know how you make out!

Hi there

Thank you Kathy and Sereneh.

Is the Buckeye State any relationship to the old Buckeye root beer? LOL

Tomorrow is just another day in my life.

I actually have lived all this time since Jan 28th 2005.

That was a milestone when I was rescued by a cardiologist.

Each day since then is very, very precious to me.

Thank you and until next time.

This is, "table napkin guy," signing off for tonight. LOL

I think I will change my name as well, it kinda has a nice ring to it. LOL

Thank you very much again.

Vern from Vancouver.

Vern of Vancouver,

Thank you so much for your post! I spent my first night with a full face mask last night. The night began wonderfully, and ended in horror. Somewhere in the middle of the night the mask began to itch slightly, so I "adjusted" its placement. Then it began to warm. The heat up. Everywhere under that stupid plastic/latex/rubber or whatever that "gel" is made of, that the mask touched my skin began to burn terribly. I pulled the mask off for a little while for relief, then put it back on when the mask began to spit water from the humidifyer.

After a full night of trying to relieve the burn, I finally gave up, turned on my light, turned the machine off and removed the mask completely. Off came the skin where the mask sat all night. Apparently, I am highly allergic to the material of the gel, and my face looks like I fell asleep under a tanning bed light, only with the light able to burn the triangular area of the full mask.

I was so hoping that this CPAP was the answer to my prayers, after falling asleep at work and nearly losing my job, I finally thought this was the answer. I have been so depressed and feeling hopeless. I also have type II diabetes, as well as other health problems that may be affected by finally getting sleep. During my sleeptest I stopped breathing on an average of 48 times an hour, which I guess is considered "severe". This machine was my hope for an almost normal life again.

I contacted my technician and they told me that all of the masks are made of the same stuff, and that there is no such thing as a "hypo-allergenic" mask. I actually cried upon hearing this. Then I found your post. I'm not sure how well I can tolerate a "napkin" on my face, but I'm pretty good with a sewing machine, so maybe I can create a barrier between this mask and my poor skin.

I saw folks post that this type of allergy is rare, but let me tell you, you are NOT alone! Thank you again, so much for all the info on your trial and errors. At least now I have direction and can move forward...in other words .... you have restored my HOPE.

Thank you for sharing!!!
