ResMed S7 Lightweight

Post by Severeena » Thu Jan 19, 2006 7:37 pm

I was looking at my ResMed S7 Lightweight and I found out it does have a clinical menu and I can change my start pressure but not the ending pressure. Does anyone know how to change the ending number?

I set my start pressure at 11 and I found out my end pressure is 11. I am defeating my purpose. I want to use the CPAP as a back up to my APAP.

dsm do you have any ideas?

Severeena,

I have a ResMed S7 Lightweight also. After reading your post, I looked at mine and did a little experimenting. My pressure is set at 11cm. The start pressure is set is 7cm. It would go down to 4cm but my DME set it for a 4cm difference originally. So when I change my pressure I maintain the 4cm difference between start and final pressures. He allegedly knows more than I do

Remember, this machine is not an Auto.

I hope this helps.

I like that but me thinks you are being too kind.

I know the S7 Lightweight is not an APAP, but there should be a way to change the the final pessure.

Severeena: I'm somewhat new to this but isn't the ending number normally a figure set by the Doctor after reviewing the sleep test. Just asking!!

I'm thinking that the pressure of 11 is your titrated pressure as determined by your sleep study. The start pressure I assuming is the pressure your ramp starts at and adjusts up to the final pressure over a preset time. The only other adjustment I could see was an altitude setting.

Darth Vader Look: That's my understanding also. My machine is set to start at 5 and peak out at 11. The EPR is set at 3 and a ramp time of anything I want between 0 and 45 min.

Severeena,

I may not have explained myself well enough. When it reads "CPAP", that is the final pressure.

Sorry for the confusion,

I can't say for sure (wink wink), but to get to the right menu I think you hold the right arrow key and the down arrow key for a few seconds. If you do break into the clinician menu then you can set the CPAP pressure. You set the starting ramp pressure and time under the users menu.

mikemoran, you are exactly right about getting into the clinicians menu and setting the pressures. I got a copy of the clinician's manual from a person on e-bay.

I asked my DME for my manual and I was told, that I didn't need it

I want my manual.

Severeena,

My DME told me the same thing. I went to "Google" and typed in ResMed S7 Lightweight CPAP Clinician's Manual and came up with a person on E-Bay that had it.

He e-mailed the file and I printed it. I still have the file. If you want it, send me your email address and I'll send it to you. Mine is hdj47@charter.net You must have Adobe to open it. If you don't have Adobe, you can download from their website.

Hi all,

I also have the exact same unit. I've had it since June 2004. I've noticed that the past couple of months, it seems to me that the pressure is dropping, enough so that I can really notice it. Has anyone else experienced this, or do these machines just wear out?

I just started researching this tonight, and am surprised to see a tremendous amount of information on the subject. I fall into the category of looking for something "user serviceable", as I have a high insurance deductible and this thing cost me over $600 out of pocket when I got it, I really don't want to have to fork that over again if there is something I can do myself for it.

Thanks
