Help Needed With Encore Card Reader

Post by Paper_Nanny » Sat Apr 30, 2011 3:30 pm

I finally got the software and card reader so I can access the data from my Respironics BiPAP auto SV Advanced. Alas, I still can't access it because I am having problems with the card reader.

Information Which May Be Relevant:

I am running Windows XP

I installed Encore Pro2 version 2.4.12.2

I am trying to use an infineer card reader

The card reader is plugged into the computer in 2 places. I don't know the names of those connections, so excuse the non-technical description. One plug is round, like the keyboard and mouse connector. In fact, with that connector, the male end plugs right into the computer; there is a female plug on the other side and the keyboard is plugged into there, piggy backed, sort of.

With no card in the reader, the light is off. With the card in, a red light goes illuminates on the reader. The light goes on regardless of how I put the card in. Backwards, frontwards, upside down... I get the red light with all of them.

When I try to access the data with the EncorePro2 software, I get an error message saying "A Pillips Respironics data card was not found."

What do I need to do for the software to find it??

When I installed the Encore pro2 software, there was no installation of drivers for the card reader.

I do not know if the device is listed on my device manager; I am not sure what to look for.

I can't think of anything else that would be helpful to anyone assisting me with this problem. I know I missed things, though, so please let me know what else you need to know.

Deborah

Please open the user control panel on this board and fill in the equipment listing on your profile.

Where did you get the card reader? Is it the one specifically for the Respironics cards? The bit about the keyboard sounds strange. Is there any model number or other kind of label on the card reader?

Update the DT3500 driver software.

http://www.ais-magnetic.com/e/download_ ... p?id=23390

EncorePro does have the driver software in it but 2.4 seems to lose it somehow.

Disregard the red/green thingy. Just make sure the gold box goes in first and up.

See if the software will find the card now.

I tried to do it, but I can't find my machine on there. I am perhaps hopelessly clueless... My machine is a Respironics BiPAP Auto SV Advanced. As for the mask, I didn't know what to put, because I am still searching for a mask to call my own. Still trying to find one that fits comfortably without major leaks. Which is why I so desperately want to access my data...

It is made specifically for the Respironics cards. The keyboard bit does sound strange, but here is a link to a picture of what I'm talking about. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... erial.html

I gave it a try, but it still doesn't work. I did a google search for images of DT3500 respironics. All the images that came up have the USB plug, not the funky thing that is on mine. Do I need a different driver because of that?

I lost my keys, my shoes, my mind, but never my driver software. What is with that EncorePro, anyway??

Wow, an antique serial port card reader, how quaint!

That's really ancient, most PC's don't even have a serial port these days. Did you buy it recently?

That is apparently an infineer DT-3000 card. This MIGHT be the right driver: http://securetech-corp.com/drivers.html The DT-3000 zip file has installation instructions in a PDF file buried deep in the directory structure somewhere. It appears the drivers are written for pre windows XP systems, but they might work.

It may also work with Encore Pro Version 1 and not with two, but that's just a guess from how out of date a serial port card reader is.

The Infineer DT 3500 Infineer smart card reader that I gave link for software update for does indeed work with Encore Pro 2.4. I had M series machine and used that card reader till I got my new PR S1 machine just 3 weeks ago.

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Respir ... r-USB.html This one will work. I know for sure because it is the one I have. Unsure why the one with the serial port will not work. Unless that particular model of card is not supported being the serial port kind.

When I install EP 2.4 in late January, it worked fine for a couple of days, then it gave me the "no card found" message and I updated the DT3500 driver software and it worked fine from then on. This is why I say that EP does have the driver software in it but seems to forget it.

Encore Pro is PITA software. Sometimes it just does not want to play nice.

In equipment tab choice of machine. Scroll down the choices till you see Remstar BiPap AutoSV Advanced. Remstar is marketing term for their Respironics machines.

Encore Viewer 1.0 might work. I have it on disc but it is too large to send as attachment. Since it is older version of the software it might work with your card reader. Encore Pro 1.8 might work. I have it on disc somewhere.
Did you ever have the older software and use that particular card reader?

Edit: The serial port model the DT 3000 I cannot find any updated drive info on it. I found some discussion in archives in this forum and everyone was saying get the USB one and not the serial port one but no reason was given. This was back when Encore Pro 1.xxx and Viewer 1.0 was around. If you used the software in the past, that may be all you can do. I find nothing that lets us use it with the EP version now. If you never tried the software in the past, maybe I could find some way of getting the software to you. The reports are unchanged anyway. There is no advantage to using Pro 2.4 and your machine. Older software gives same reports. Now if you got a new PR S1 machine, different story.

So I guess, purchase the other DT3500 card reader with USB connection or if older software has never been tried we could try to get you the older version to try.

I got the same message on mine. I had to go to the mako website and download the software, then it worked. Mako is the manufacturer of infineer -- also my infineer card reader does not hook up like the picture you posted, thats a really old one. I just plug into my usb port, put card into reader and downbload my nights info.
Good Luck
Nan
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Thanks. I have update my information.

No, the only thing I have ever had is what I have now. Tomorrow, I can check with the person I got the card reader from and find out what version of software she has and if it's the same as what I have, I can verify that the card reader worked for her.

That would be very helpful if you could find an earlier version of the software...

I wish I could purchase the other card reader, but alas, my financial situation at the moment is such that there isn't a whole lot of purchasing going on around here.

Find out which version of the older software worked (if previous owner used it). Does she still have the software?

I will go look through my boxes from when we moved and see if I can find the discs. All I know to do is send the disc via the snail mail system. I would be happy to do that. There are ways of uploading stuff via the internet for others to download but I have never done that. If someone could explain that process to me I would be willing to try that and save snail mail time.

EncoreViewer 1.0 is the smallest and even it is too large to do via email attachment. Viewer would be easier for you to use.

Quaint, but free. It's the way to be!
archangle wrote:That's really ancient, most PC's don't even have a serial port these days. Did you buy it recently?
Most don't, but mine does. I have too many antiquated pieces of hardware to dispense with my serial port.

So, how do I know if the driver was installed and if it was the right one? As far as I can tell, the quaint card reader is still not showing up in my device manager. If the driver was right, it should show up there, shouldn't it?

I downloaded and installed offical drivers as suggested by NanWilson. And still, I don't think the device is being recognized.

The serial port reader must have worked at some time in the past with the older versions of the software or else cpap.com would not have offered it for sale.

I will look for my Viewer 1.0 disc. It wasn't in the box that I thought it should be in. Can't find it at the moment but I will continue to look. It is with the Pro 1.8 disc.... both are MIA.

Features

* Supports Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT 4.0 and Linux platforms

Did you try the zip file that archangle suggested?

Did you try the DT-3000 drivers here? (Note 3000, not 3500)

http://securetech-corp.com/drivers.html

You have the serial port version of the card reader which is the DT-3000, the USB version is the DT-3500. It's unlikely the DT-3500 device drivers will work with the DT-3000.

Serial port device drivers have traditionally been a royal pain.

Isn't it fun dealing with the DT's?

On Vista, with the USB version, it shows up on the device mangler as "smart card readers."

Yes, and therein lies the answer to the problem. My troubles have been because the Encore Pro2 software does not support the DT3000, which is the older card reader. Found that out after checking the system requirements on the Encore Pro2 software. If only I had done that FIRST!!!

I'd appreciate it. Looks like at this point, that's what I will need. Older software or a newer card reader...
Pugsy wrote:Did you try the zip file that archangle suggested?
I did. That was before I realized the problem wasn't with the drivers.

I have gone through 3 boxes, looked for that Viewer 1.0 disc. It is in the Respironics disc box, just can't remember which big box I put it in.
I will keep looking. Will let you know. It's around here somewhere.
