Swift fx help

Post by trytryagain » Sun Apr 24, 2011 9:11 am

Even with the velcro fix on the back strap, the straps slides up my head. Are there any other helpful suggestions to prevent this? Otherwise I'm liking this mask.

I missed any previous discussion(s) on your problems with your Swift FX, but do you wear a chin strap? If so, wear if over the Swift. If not, get one and try it - same way, over the Swift. It keeps my Swift from shifting or moving or going anywhere. I actually woke up a couple of times in a panic, thinking the mask was off and lost somewhere in the covers. No, it was on and fitting so perfectly there was no sound of leaking and I couldn't even feel it (I use Pad-a-Cheeks barrel cozy and side pads too; very comfy).

If that fix has already been tried, did you get your Swift at a local DME? Can you go back and explain your problems and ask for help?
If you got it online, a good respiratory medical supply company will likely see you for a complimentary consultation. They see a potential future client, and you might get your issues resolved.

Your picture shows long hair. If your hair is still long, try putting it in a ponytail first and then put the straps on underneath the ponytail. Works, mostly, for me.

katy, yes it's still long, but it's also very thick and lots of it. The pony tail trick does work but I don't like having that big lump all night , it gives me a headache.
I'm trying to figure out a way to clip some of my hair to the strap.

If you can't make it work maybe you can have your dme let you try the Swift LT. I have both and for me the LT is more stable. I use it with a 2" "self adhering" ace bandage as a chin strap. The strap is a bit sticky and it does not budge an inch. I wear the LT over the strap. Good luck!

I'm wondering if you pull SOME but not all of your hair over the strap and make a soft pony tail (perhaps also catching in some of the hair that is below the strap) that would do it?

Old fashioned bobby pins by chance? You know--the type once used to keep parts of a hairdo in place? I think they still sell bobby pins ...

I just pull a strip of hair (about midway down on the back of my head) up and over the back strap and it holds it. I don't put it in a ponytail or anything.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I'll be trying them out soon, I ate too much Easter Junk and I'm ready to hit the hose early.

Hello,
We have a new item that may help with that very issue. If you use nasal pillows and have a problem with the back strap riding up and want to know my solution, feel free to email me at karen at padacheek dot com

I will send you the details to decide on your own.
Just letting you know.

Sleep well and wake rested.

Karen
