Cleaning mask/tubing

Post by Sleepy CJ » Tue Jan 10, 2006 3:23 pm

I know what the instruction book says, and I know my DME told me another way, and the CD that came with my mask told me another way to clean my mask and tubing. Im wondering is there a consensus from my fellow apenaites here on how and how often you clean your mask and tubing.

I was told to wipe my nasal pillows each day with non scented baby wipes, and soak the mask and tubing in vinegar and water mix once a week.

What do you do? im interested to know.

Thanks for all the help and info!

For the tubing I was doing the fill and slosh from the shower sprawer.

Last week I decided to do a good de-yuking of all the parts and soaked em in a sink full of hot water, a bit of baby shampoo and some unscented bleach just to make sure I didnt have ikkyness growing up inside something.

Everything worked out fine and I was in the process of rinsing out the hose. I was still using the sink. I had it coiled up in the bottom of the sink and was seeing if I could submerg it in such a way as to have no air bubbles in it. (No idea why I was doing that, it just seemed like something worth trying out)

Anyhoo, I drained the sink and was running some hot water down the hose..when I just stuck the end of the hose over the sink spigot and it fit.

It fit perfectly. Now I can flush my hose when ever I feel the need with hot water at full faucit pressure. I just coil the hose up in the sink basin, stick one end over the spigot and let it rip.

The mask itself I still do the wash and rinse in hot water and babyshampoo and once a week or so add just a bit of bleach to make sure nothing fugly is being farmed in a crevice or something.

The gasket I wash daily with lukwarm water and babyshampoo. No bleach. I'm afraid bleach would not play nice with the silicone.
