If you have the time and the inclination, here's a link I just did on a forum search on "Apria AND billing".

Not many "happy campers" among those who have dealt with Apria.

Re: APRIA Accounting Issues
I quit using them. I tried for two months to get a detailed billing out of them, showing what I had paid, what the insurance had paid, and the balance owing. I finally gave up and just paid the $27...I was spending too much time trying to get information out of them (holding on the phone for about 45 minutes each time I called). It was more cost effective to just pay it and quit trying to figure out what I really owed them because time spent hassling with them was time I wasn't working/billing. Fortunately, it was a small amount.
I will not deal with them again. If they become the only DME my insurance company will accept, then I will simply pay out of pocket.
They are a miserable, nasty, awful, and inefficient company.

They are here in town--my impression: no office, all delivery. I'm staying away.

They use Concentrix for their billing. I've NEVER seen a company have such a horendous accounting system.
ANY company, you are a patient/person/client with only ONE, REPEAT ONE account number. Not here!!!
You get a different account number with every transaction!!! And if you're like me who does internet banking since its inception using the initial account number for your account, you will be threatened with collection agencies because they misdirected your payment to the account number that you purchased a year ago whereas the account number change unbeknownst to you for the purchase you made a month ago. Concentrix expected me to know all this!!!!

Our local hospital assigns new account numbers every six months. I think it's becoming a corporate health common practice. It's fairly frustrating because everything is keyed to your ssn and insurance policy instead. That's supposed to be illegal, from what I understood, but there you have it. They won't even file your insurance without your SSN.Starlette wrote:They use Concentrix for their billing. I've NEVER seen a company have such a horendous accounting system.

The last time I used Apria, the new gal came out with a bill that had prices on it -- their cost and my cost. The main flunky saw it, blanched, and whisked it out of my hand. She came back with a bill with that showed just the total and a place to sign. But I had seen how they charge for each mask part separately rather than charging for the mask package, as they bought it. They made my insurance pay considerably more than if they billed for the mask package. It made me feel like I circus mark. To me that comes across as accounting fraud. I wonder if it's even legal.
Later, they tried to get me on a monthly program where they would have an auto-dialer call me so I could punch in what I needed and give them compliance numbers. By then I was so fed up I wrote a complaint to their head office that they were fired. They were never to call me again after our final business was concluded.
It went from bad to worse when they were bought out by Blackstone, from what I understand.
That said, some people have had excellent service from Apria. Just not very many of us.

Re: APRIA Accounting Issues
I haven't had a problem with the billing yet. I have all the receipts since December that I need to compile and compare with my ins EOB's, but if it's off, it's not by much.

Re: APRIA Accounting Issues
My local hospital uses a different account number for each transaction. I had minor foot surgery in January. When I went to the hospital for the pre-op lab work and for the pre-admission EKG and chest x-ray I actually wound up with 2 bills, each with their own account number! Yes, it's very annoying when having to adjust the account numbers with online Bill Pay, but now I use 'See memo field' as the hospital's account number, and then note the bill's 'account number' in the memo field. It makes sense to someone, but not to me!
