rescan crashes when saving or printing reports

Post by Rickter111 » Fri Mar 25, 2011 10:00 am

Hi all. New to this cpap thing.

I got the rescan 3.12 loaded and running on windows 7 64 bit. I can view all my data and make reports, but I soon as I try to either save or print the report, bam, the program crashes and shuts down.

I assume it's because of its tie to adobe reader, which is the latest version, but I can't figure out what to do.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

It might be a memory issue of some kind.
Some of us use a program like the following to print our reports.
CutePDF installs as a printer and does a great job.
The files are much smaller than are created by some of these report writers.

Didn't work. I got a "unhandled exception" error. Then the program closes

Same here, Rickter. I solve that by taking a pic with the digital cam and download it so that I can print out my numbers. I've tried everything. Nothing else works.

I have run across the same problem on my computer running Win 7 32 bit. When I tried it on my Wife's Vista laptop, it worked. I got a larger hard drive for my laptop and did a clean install of the original Software (Vista), and no problems printing. I think that the original problem with Win 7 is that some software I installed has interfered with the link to Adobe. I do not have Microsoft Office on my machines so I can not check the email link. If that works, you might be able to email to an alias and then print.

THanks for the info. I still have over 400g left on my drive so I don't think it's a memory thing. Plus I can't save them either. It crashes when I hit print or save report.

Have you gone to the MS website and put in the error message in a search option? I did yesterday and got a whole bunch of results, but couldn't find anything conclusive to give you for a clue.

Both Print and Save create a PDF document first. This is not a problem with Adobe itself but in the interface between Rescan and Adobe. Some software on your system is interfering with the data transfer. I do not know if it is only one program or several that can cause this problem. It may be an incompatiblity issue with Win 7. I thought I had installed Vista compatible mode when I installed on Win 7.

OK so know I un-installed and deleted all resscan,/resmed files/programs. Re-installed v3.13. still get the "unhandled exception" error. but now I also get "resware shell launcher stopped working".

I may have been getting this earlier, but it was just flashing too fast to read, I just caught it this time. I've tried making IE my default browser. it was firefox. Also tried multple compatibility modes.

No change, I can view the reports, but when I try to save or print, splat, crash.

Windows 7 and Vista have the Snipping Tool for taking screen shots and cropping at the same time. This is how I save any of my reports that I want to save. I just open the report to full readable size, crop the screenshot, save it in jpeg format to a folder on the desktop that I just have for reports. Then if I want to print a copy, I can easily copy the screen shot file. It is also handy to have them there in that format in case I want to upload it for posting here.

Of course I don't use ResScan but this might be a suitable alternative for saving the reports for printing or whatever when there is a possible conflict and prevent the crash.

I would try a full unistall of the Adobe reader. The I'd run run ccleaner - removing all temporary filed and cleaning the registry -- then reinstall. If ccleaer finds registry problem, I run it again, (and again ) after cleaning - until it no no longer reports problems.
When I remove temporary files I make sure I select the cookies I want to keep.

I would then uninstall ResScan, run ccleaner as above, Reinstall ResScan and then reinstall Adobe Reader.

Hi All,

Thought I would share my experience.

I too get an Unhandled Exception error under the following conditions:
1. Attempt to save a All Available Data report for 10 days or more
2. Attempt to save a Statistical Data report for 25 days or more

I am able to successfully save reports under the following conditions:
1. All Available Data report for 9 days or less
2. Statistical Data report for 24 days or less

I am using ResScan 3.11.009 on Windows 7 and the ResScan Card Reader. I have tried Adobe Reader X and 9 as well as Foxit Reader. I have done a clean uninstall of Adobe reader, ResScan etc and this makes no difference for me.

I can't see how it is an Adobe Reader issue seeing as Foxit Reader does exactly the same thing.

It might very well be a ResScan or Windows 7 issue. I've had all sorts of permissions issues with Windows 7 ever since I got it.

Cheers

Chris
