Second night - Wow, I'm dreaming (and not as depressed)!

Post by Aprilmom07 » Thu Mar 24, 2011 8:18 am

Last night was so much easier than my first. I give a lot of credit to all the support I got on my first post (depressed newbie saying hi). Thank you, thank you!!

I wouldn't say I was "comfortable" last night, and I did wake again a few times, but it seemed to take less effort. I am amazed by all the vivid DREAMS I have been having! Wow, is this what sleeping is all about? What fun!

I even told my best friend about my diagnosis and machine. As so many of you said, she was very supportive.

Okay, I can do this. I will do this. I'm looking forward to being healthy again. You guys are the best!!

I don't remember from your first thread whether you have been introduced to the term "REM rebound"; if not, let me introduce you! Many of the sleep-deprived start experiencing it when their sleep begins to improve. Some like it, some hate it

(I'm one who really enjoys it. Before I found out I had apnea I was frustrated by my total inability to follow the instructions in Lucid Dreams in 30 Days. "I never dream," I concluded. My sleep study confirms this was true --I never got to REM sleep until they put the mask on me, then boom!).

Hang in there and don't expect progress to be a straight line. As my favorite doctor says, "Your body is not a clock; it's a garden."

Glad you had a good night and you sound determined to make the beat of an unfortunate situation. Good luck to you. I had an unusually bad night last night - my third. But I feel just like you do; I am going to stay positive and just know there will be worse nights than others but when you're in the valley there's a hill to look forward to in the future. Keep up the good personality!

Good job, got through another night and it was a little better than the first. It will get easier as time goes by. Each little success is marker to be proud of. Will you ever be one of those cpap users who say they "love" their machine? Who knows.. I sure don't love mine after almost 2 years but I do accept it and realize I am better off with it than without.

I am so pleased the second night has gone so well, it is the best way to making CPAP work!
About dreams, what you and DD said has just made me realize that I have also felt that change but hadn't put it down to CPAP! I had also decided that I was "one of those persons" who doesn't dream. What a change... I mostly enjoy it, except when I dream of frightening things

Glad to hear you are sticking with it. I'm only a month in and wouldn't give it up at this point. My mind has learned that when the nasal pillow goes in, its sleep time.

As for the dreams, its wonderful.

Aprilmom,

SO happy to hear that even on night two, you've already gotten a) some much deserved support and b) better sleep!
You CAN do this, and I have confidence that you WILL.

Hats off to you and your incredible journey...
Looking forward to hearing updates in the future!

Cheers,
Jess
