Anyone tried new machine on cpap.com?

Post by newname » Thu Feb 24, 2011 7:08 pm

I was reading about this today. It's a small one pound machine that does not use water and there's no long hose to hang over you. It says you strap it on your head and it uses new technology instead of the water humidification. It's tempting to try. I know it seems strange to wear it on your head, but it says it's very light. If anyone has tried this yet, I'd be curious to know how it feels. It's on cpap.com so it must a new invention, not a joke.

Definately interesting ... not sure i'd want to be the first to try it though (at least at that price).

You would think that a savvy marketing person would allow a few of the more vocal members here to "trial run" the device. Maybe it don't work so good?

Help Us Out...What do you think of Transcend travel CPAP?
viewtopic.php?p=565019#p565019

That thread is more about "What do you think about what what we, the inventors, are saying about our product?" since I don't think anyone posting there has had an opportunity to try it out yet...as of mid-February, anyway.

As Bernie put it:
BernieRay wrote:I think a lot of valid thoughts/concerns have been expressed, but until someone has given it a test drive, all we're doing is guessing.
If I went completely by my reaction to pictures of the Breeze mask and the Headrest mask, I'd have never tried either of those masks. They turned out to be two of my favorites and didn't feel at all heavy on the head the way they appear to be in photos.

If I were Somnetics, I'd have some cpaptalk'ers try it out as snnnark suggested.

I too looked at the initial thread about this machine. I looked at the machine and said "no way" because I simply couldn't tolerate the strap around the base of skull and neck, as well as any "weight" on my head.

I have had a cervical fusion, 2 vertebrae removed and replaced with donor bone and a 4 1/2 inch plate stabilizing my cervical spine. I can't stand the pressure of simply FF mask around the base of my skull which affects the spine. It just plain hurts. So I couldn't get past that hurdle to even think about the other hurdles.

I think it would be a great product for those that are into extreme sleepwalking.

If I bought a separate machine for travel, it would be one of the devilbiss models (devilbii?)
The price and features are very reasonable, and it can be run off the lighter outlet.
Plus; I could use ANY MASK!

I think she was referring to the mask limitations with this new machine that was discussed in this thread. It can only be used with a certain type of mask being a nasal mask only. No FF, no nasal pillow mask. It it mentioned in detail in the information at the link for the machine in one of the posts above.
