One night of BiPAP w/ humidifier on battery power?

Post by nikhilj » Thu Feb 24, 2011 12:44 am

Hi,
I am travelling to India for 3 months this summer and I am worried about frequent power cuts while I am there. I need a batter solution which solves these problems:

- I have a Resmed VPAP Auto 25 with pressure of 9/12.
- I am very sensitive to dry air, so absolutely need to use humidifier. (I prefer sleeping without therapy over sleeping without humidifier)
- I basically want a power solution to provide 6+ hours of use in one night, occasionally. It's okay if I have to recharge it everyday. Most nights, I will be at home and won't need backup power.
- I can't take marine cycle batteries with me on a flight or while I am travelling, so the battery has to be something like a Lithium Ion, or some other reasonably portable and safe battery.

Given these constraints, I am considering buying a BatteryGeek C-250 cpap battery, along with a pure sine wave inverter.

Given that I am using a BiPAP machine + humidifier + pure sine wave inverter, how much therapy time can I expect per charge? Everyone keeps saying that humidifier and inverters are real power hogs... so is this setup even worth trying? If its anything more than 4 hours, I might still consider buying the battery and the inverter. Below 4 hours, it's not worth the hassle of carrying all this extra baggage with me to India.

thanks in advance!
