Anyone know where you can get Medical Equipment luggage type tags to put on your cpap bag when flying etc.? Seems the DMEs ought to carry these kind of things to hand out to new patients FREE.
I've seen them on ebay. But why would you need them. I've asked for them at the check in and they say unless its oxygen they arent necessary. I travel alot by air. Why advertise to everyone that you may be carrying an expensive piece if medical equipment . When I worked in EMS we had to be carefull of our equipment. Since many thought we had drugs in our bag they would steal it. Just a gimmick to sell something on ebay if you ask me. Just my 2 cents.

Good point Chris, but I was thinking maybe it would help geet through security, etc. a lot quicker. I think I read that the machines shouldn't go through the scanners. So you just tell the security checkpoint what it is or what?
I fly a lot - 2-3 roundtrips a month on average, and I like to take all my stuff as carryon, and not have to wait for anything to come out on the carrousel or possibly get lost, and I'm up to the suitcase and my briefcase already.

The scanners wont hurt the cpap. the amount of radiation is very small. It wont even hurt photographic film below 1600asa. 4000 asa in the european machines perhaps higher by now. . I use a industrial x-ray machine . It doesnt hurt the electronics systems, radios, gps etc on the aircraft I expose . We use levels that would kill a person in a few minutes of exposure.

Most people report that airport security people are very accustomed to seeing cpap machines now. Wouldn't hurt to have a copy of your doctor's prescription or letter of medical necessity packed in with the machine.
As others have said, don't take a chance on having it get lost or damaged in cargo. You're entitled to have an extra carry-on bag containing your medical equipment - in addition to your regular carry-on bag.
As a fellow "dog show person", you know the value of a long extension cord. Gotta be able to reach that hotel room outlet from the nightstand.
