"Luke, I am your Father........."

Post by McSnoresalot » Thu Feb 17, 2011 10:43 am

Wifey says I sound like Darth Vader when I talk in my sleep with Facehugger on.

I think she's screwing with me - no way you can talk with the vortex - can't even yawn right, anyone else notice this? I had this incredible urge to yawn last night - finally had to yank Facehugger off to git er done.

Just wait til you have a good coughing spell... makes the anti-rebreathing valve go nuts and make all kinds of noises.

You have a Facehugger on you at night? I'd be careful if I were you - you don't want anything bursting out of your chest

I can talk with my gear on, but I have to yell for my wife to hear me. The worst is when I have a tickle on my nose and I have to tilt open the mask to get at it - whoooooooosh/face farts galore, and she jumps a mile high!

EDIT: Your wife isn't the first to make the Vader comparison. It's cut off on my profile picture, but I am wearing a Darth Vader t-shirt in it.

Do they make a mask that will stop my wife from talking when I am wearing it?

Some people will pay a lot to screw someone in a Darth Vader mask.

My DME provider actually has a CPAP mask on a Darth Vader mask - it sits on a display case as you walk in the door of their store.

Hubby has a Darth Vader mask, and he doesn't use a PAP come to think of it, all his friends want to borrow it Kathy

Yup. My wife made similar comparisons.

BUT ... she stopped after the first night because (1) I slept so well, and (2) she slept so well, and (3) the kids slept so well.

You do get used to talking with the mask on. I'm not saying it's really easy. But you can do it and be understood.

Yawning I still have not learned how to do without having it "pop" my ears. So, I tip my mask away from my face to allow me to yawn.

You will be amazed at how quickly you will adjust - especially if it helps improve your sleep. Don't even try to get me to sleep without my "breathe machine" now. I just can not do it, intentionally. After a long day, I do sometimes fall asleep without it while watching TV. It's a great way for me to have a horrible headache. So, I try to avoid that.

Best wishes on your journey!

I recently found myself referring to my gear as "Darth Vader" while talking to a friend of mine.

He knows that I'm a full fledged Jedi knight.... errr.... hosehead... and he caught me unawares in MSN chat one evening as I was settling down for the night. Had to excuse myself while I "... unhooked Darth Vader..." and went to find my glasses.

I have been telling my wife for 12 years that "I" can't talk with my mask on.

Now, you guys are going to ruin it for me.
