Help...CMS50F Pulse Ox Help..

Post by TmjTerri » Thu Feb 10, 2011 5:30 pm

Hi.. I just got a Contec CMS50F pulse oximeter with the usb and software but am having trouble figuring out how to upload recorded data and how to also review it. Can someone who has this or someone who knows how to operate this please advise me on how to use this properly? Thank SO much, Terri

I had the same issues when I got mine! A member here gave me detailed instructions, but I can't find what they sent me. But here's what I do to upload the overnight data. I'm assuming you've figured out how to record overnight.

Start up the Green heart SP02.
I connect the USB cable to the monitor, then connect it to the computer.
In the software, click on the "new session" button (magnifying glass).
Enter the details and press OK.
Software should say "Waiting for data"
Long press the button on the monitor to get to the menu, then go down to "Upload."
The program should now say "receiving data"

The data will display on the screen once it has been uploaded.

I hope this helps. This is how I do it.

Thank you SO much!! I am going to go try this out right now. I really really appreciate your help. I will let you know what happens, hopefully it will work..lol. Oh, before I go, when you are recording the data at night, does the screen go dim after you see the "recording" word on the screen? I just want to make sure that mine is working properly. Thanks again!!

I'm glad I could help.

Yes, the entire screen goes blank during the recording. If you want to see what it says, just press the button and it will display for a few seconds before doing dark again.

YAY!! I got it to work!! Thank you SO much! I have another question..lol. When you download the data to the computer does it erase from the pulse ox or is there a way to erase all memory manually? Thanks!

Every time you record it wipes the old data, something you need to remember as you can wipe needed data before you get to download it. I did by accident! Jim

Does this mean that if I record for a period of time like maybe an hour or so and if I stop it then start it up again it will totally delete all data before that? Also, I was looking at my results for the first time this morning and my pulse ox went down to 86, I noticed that my pulse also goes down at the same time. Is this normal? I am VERY new at this so please bear with me as I may ask silly questions. Thank you SO much for your help!! Terri

Can't help with the question regarding over write as I don't have a pulse ox but to answer your question regarding pulse rate and O2 level, yes it is quite common for the pulse rate to increase. The body is trying to supply more oxygenated blood to vital organs and since O2 level is lower body says "I have to send more blood" so heart works faster and harder to try to improve O2 flow.

Sorry, I have one more question that I forgot. On the pulse ox that I own ( I just got is this week) I was wondering about the prongs inside of the pulse ox itself, where you plug in the finger probe..mine looks like it is missing one. It looks like one is broken off. Does yours have all 6 prongs or are there only 5 and one missing? I want to make sure that mine is not defective. The person that I bought it from said that all of them are this way, only having 5 prongs instead of 6 full prongs. Thanks!

I loaned mine out to a friend so I can't respond right now. Those prongs look so fragile I never remove the finger sensor from the monitor for fear of breaking them.

I just looked at mine -- thank goodness I have a magnifying glass!!

It only has 5 -- so that's correct. It DOES look like there's a place for a 6th one, but mine doesn't have it either.

EVERYTIME, you set it to record it resets the data, I use the "E" model, just taking it off your finger while it records doesn't reset it. Stopping record and restarting record resets it. Jim

Thanks for the info on reading the data. I just got my 50F yesterday.
Question... does the data gets saved daily on my pc? I cannot see where there is a log or a place to save.
And... how often do you find you have to recharge?

It should record for 24 hours.
When you see something odd on the graph, Stretch the graph out to 1 or 10 minutes, you will notice little places where the line turns grey. This is when it looses connection and it will have to establish a reading again.
It will store your reports. Click on the magnifying glass. Give it a patient name.
