You people are a bunch of nuts with way too much time on your hands and too much time on the net.

Goodbye, I aint posting here anymore.

@Mikey,

This is the first time you have actually addressed me personally.

Thank you.

I wrote what I wrote for two purposes.

First, it would irritate me too if someone actually did a study posing as a forum troll on an unsuspecting forum audience. If it was true, I would want to make it stop because it would be entirely unethical, even with the forum owners' consent.

Second, if that wasn't the case, I reasoned from previous posts that psychology was one of your 'buttons'. Because some of your most recent posts have been so irrevocably and unacceptably lewd, I wanted you to feel what it's like to have your buttons pressed. Please note that I did so without calling names or saying anything lewd. In doing so, I assure you, I feel as if I tipped a cow or stuck my hand in dooty -- like I need a bath. But from your reply, I'm guessing you might now have some small glimspse of how it is to walk in the shoes of those whom you have offended. It probably smarts. For that I sincerely and profoundly apologize.

In each email alert you get from the forum, there are several links, one of which will allow you to stop receiving emails for each particular thread. They can be very useful.

Honestly and sincerely -- be well, and good luck with your new pet S9.

Strongly agree with you madalot!
I would hate to see someone get convicted simply because of their timing in joining and happen to use similar languge as a person that has caused trouble.

Just saying...
Again, I think you're right here.

My humble opinion? You try once or twice to give a rude, arrogant new user a heads up that they are behaving badly (like I did back in my response to the very first post I read by ResmedUser (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59826&p=561494) when I asked if he'd read the user manual to the S9 when he was ranting about not being able to get the AHI off the LCD like he could on the S8 and the second post I read by him (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59889&p=562179) where I politely told him why I found the tone of his post to be insulting. After that, I did my best to resist jumping into the fray. Not always successfully, but I tried.

I do think the best way to deal with trolls (and I use that term because I believe ResmedUser's arrogance warrants it) is indeed to ignore them as much as possible and when they can't be ignored, to politely point out the errors in posts they make to other's threads in as neutral of language as possible.

Of course when a troll attacks you, I think you're entitled to feed the troll if you want to Sometimes it can be fun. [I'm thinking of a particularly entertaining encounter with calist on what kind doctor-patient interaction you want as a patient .....]

No worries. It's understandable. I've talked with the new poster in chat and so far, he or she has been nothing but polite with me. I'd hate for this person to be looked at suspiciously simply because they "sound" like a recent troll and happened to join around the same time.

But with all the silliness in recent months, it's hard NOT to be suspicious!!

Mikey,
I appreciate your apology, and I'm sorry some people on this forum could'nt let you leave gracefully.
I'm sure your backslide must have ceated havoc in your life -- I hope your new machine and settings will help you rebuild what fell to pieces.

Forums are a place where everyone attempts to have the last word - and it's clear from some of the responses on this thread that some people used your attempt at leaving civilly as an occasion to be nasty to you.

The world of OSA sufferers is made up of all kinds of people, with all kinds of problems and and various ways of solving them.

Be well, Mikey. I, for one, was sincere when I wished you good luck - I hope you will find better health and satisfying outside interests.
