Re: Stop snoring with implants?
These news pieces frustrate me. In the intro the journalist says that snoring only harms the bed partner and not the snorer. No-one but one doctor even mentions sleep apnea (he states the effectiveness of the Pillar Procedure, implanting stiffening rods into the soft palate, for sleep apnea). A casual watcher would have no idea what sleep apnea is or would simply think that sleep apnea and snoring is the same thing. They would have done a better service to potential patients to at least introduce sleep apnea into the story. I would be curious to know if the patient had sleep apnea and if CPAP was prescribed. He claims his snoring was so great it woke him up. My guess is that he has OSA.
Re: Stop snoring with implants?
I saw a documentary on this the other night and the doctor, when questioned many times, finally said that the procedure would only work for very mild apnea.

I never thought of this approach ....I will have to try to convince the wife that she can do her part.

I agree with what you said, sleep apnea is one of the most down played health disorders in America when the husband in the video said he snored himself awake and he did not know why, that just revealed how ignorant sleep apnea is in the public eye. Even though his snoring is reduced he still may be having apneas They really mension more about sleap apnea and its affects on the person who has it.sydneybird wrote:These news pieces frustrate me.
