I echo the above.

Please don't quit. It is possible that nasal pillows just aren't the best solution for you. You really should they other alternatives like a full face mask (ie Quattro FX from Resmed or Full Life from Respironics), a nasal mask (ie Mirage Activa LT from Resmed or FlexFit 407 from Fisher & Paykel), or even some other nasal pillow system (ie Swift LT from Resmed or Opus 360 from Fisher & Paykel).

Don't quit after only one mask. I am on my 5th mask and it has only been about 7 months. I actually went back to the first mask I ever tried(swift lt) and it is the mask I use now(and I hated that mask the first time I tried it). I also have the swift fx but I don't like that one as much. I am giving the sleepweaver a try next(I tried one at the DMA and it sealed pretty good). Keep trying as you will find something that works for you.

Please persevere with the Swift FX...it takes time for many people to adjust. When I inflate the pillows I can feel a blast of air...but the funny thing is when I put them against my nares...I don't feel a thing! You do get used to it...keep at it. I have a pressure of 8-15 and it varies during the night. The only thing I have to deal with is leaks...some nights are better and some are worse. Please keep at it...you will succeed!

Try this as I found it works extremely well for nasal pillow masks...

After you put your mask on and with the machine turned on at your full pressure... pull the mask forward away from your nose until the pillows no longer touch your nose then gently let them fall back in place, now twitch or wiggle your nose (this will seat the pillows).

I use the Swift FX. It did take a little while to get used to it, and to find what worked. I had a lot of slippage with the strap that went around the back of my head. On this forum, I read about sewing or glueing a strip of velcro to the inside of that strap to help it stay in place (see thread: "I Velcroed up last night" It made a big difference for me. Also, the right size cushions make a differenec in the seal. And the top of the head strap should be pretty loose. Apparently the straps should not be tight. My medical provider guy said the mask should "float on your face." I have been frustrated at times! And it took me quite awhile before I got to where I could sleep the whole night with it on. Hang in there, you are worth it!!

Have you considered the Swift LT? For some of us, the firmer straps and nasal pillow adjustments help keep it in place. For me personally, it also feels like less pressure on my nose. I have both the Swift FX and LT and try as I might, the FX just doesn't work for me.

I didn't have luck with the FX either. The Swift LT is perfect for me and the Swift ll was the answer for my husband. If you have a good feeling about using the nasal pillow type masks, check the other types out.

It looks like we are assuming the FX leak is around TLU's nose but I just received my new FX yesterday and the problem for me (which I'm sure will be fixed) is that the leak is from the swivel ring and elbow (the part with the vent), not from my nose pillow. It blew a very slight but very cold breeze on my mouth all last night leading to a very bad night. I've written in to cpap.com this a.m. to have them take a look at this issue. No air should be coming through there! If they can't or won't fix it I will glue the swivel and elbow solid so that no air can come through. The swivel is not really necessary in my opinion since the hose is so little I feel that it can turn any direction without the need of a swivel. Hope this helps. By the way compared to all the different headgear that I've used over 11 years, this FX looks good, except for this breeze problem (which no one else seemed to have anyway so I know it will be fixed). Did you try taking it off and then putting it back on again? Image

I second that; please do not give up. Most of us have gone through SEVERAL masks before we found a best fit.
Relatively few people get it right the first time; and the mask is the key.
Fortunately, our host (cpap.com) sells return insurance with many of their masks, so you are not stuck with a mask that doesn't fit.
You will never know what a blessing it is to get good treatment unless you try. It is so worth the effort.

I used the Swift FX pillows for quite a while. I switched to the Resmed Softgel and have been doing much better on it. You might give that mask a try. It is quite comfortable but is also heavier than the FX - there is a trade off - but I don't have nearly the leakage issues that I had with the FX. Keep working at it - it does get better with time.

You have probably pushed the swivel ring too far into the pillow. When the pillow is properly attached to the swivel ring the pillow should spin freely on the ring.

I started using the mask again a few nights ago, but now I'm having a different issue. Has anyone had problems with a scratchy throat? Seems like I'm constantly waking up with a scratchy throat and coughing like crazy. It gets so bad that I have to pull the mask off and sleep without it.

You could try increasing your humidity level a bit and see if that helps.
