That's fantastic! PLMD can reallly wreak havock. Thanks for your comments to me re: "Sleep deficit / debt fact or fiction". I had totally overlooked the sleep doc's comment re UARS. I am using magnesium (tablets, topical spray and baths) to help with RLS, PLMD. It's helping me. PM me if you'd like more info.

I take some supplements, and one is Magnesium. I too believe it is helpful.

I've done a whole lot of talking about me and my TENS Unit, but now for the facts - tonight is my sleep study! I know I should have just waited till I got the results to post, but I'm too excited. My followup appt. is the 19th. Will post the outcome then. This study will be with me using my CPAP as usual and using the TENS before bedtime. The only difference than with past discussions is I no longer place the electrodes in an X but rather they are stacked on the either side. Here's to a decent night's sleep!

<Fingers Crossed>

May you have an excellent night's sleep tonight!

Well, at least as excellent a night as you can have when wired for sound and light! Really be interested in the results!

I been reading this thread because TENS is something I am interested in. I have FOUR units over here (may all time favorite one being a Rehabilicare Promax. (It has every feature yew will never use, and THEN some! It is one fine machine!) I also have tons and tons of books about how these work and theory of operation, etc.

A couple of things I noticed not mentioned. First, the article I wrote on TENS. Yew can read it here:

http://www.thomasamckean.com/gallery/di ... play_media

Click on the icon to read article.

Second, what may be the greatest secret of TENS, and that is TAC-GEL. Seen here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00266 ... P5JGR7WBA3

Your pads will last 2, 3, maybe even 4 times as long or more with this stuff. But yew have to remember that yew only need the tiniest bit for it to work. Just enough to thinly coat the pad. Yeah, it won't be falling off, either, AND it is water soluable so it is no mess to clean!

Also, keep your pads refrigerated and they will last longer that way as well.

Just a few things I am tossing out for y'all...

Regarding repetitive thoughts, can you make a substitution? For example a song; just sing it mentally. I'd much rather have a song I like stuck in my head instead of a worry, or disturbing dream contents.

Or recite a poem, or the Gettysburg address, or work a long division problem.

Being a writer for a living, I just go over my plots and character development/profiles in my head. That helps me sleep a lot of times. Then when I wake up, I write it all out. I an sleep and write at the same time.

Back in my working years I used to get repetitive work related thoughts and worries stuck in my head. I developed a routine that helped a lot. I would lay there and move furniture in our house around in my head, rearranging things in all sorts of different ways. Interesting enough to be distracting, boring enough to help me sleep.

POW's during the war used to pass time by building houses and mansions in their heads. Very similar to what yew are saying.
