Any S9 owners out there, I have a question

Post by Hoganflagle » Sun Jan 23, 2011 8:10 am

I was questioning on an earlier post about my Remstar Plus and starting to snore again. It was recommended that I consider a new machine with a data recorder that would tell me what is goin on.

I purchased a Resmed S9 and can tell you right off the bat that my old machine must have been going bad as the S9 after ramp and at full treatment volume was significantly stronger and moving more air. Also that S9 is super quiet!

Here is my question. Are there any settings in the system where I can disable the screen display light? In a dark room when I wake up and lean over and push the off button the screen display lights up the whole room and stays on for a while. I don't want to have to try to sit up and read the display and hunt around for button combinations when I first wake up and i don't want the light waking my wife up as I get up early. A last measure would be to have a dark cloth to lay over it but don't want to do that if I have a set up procedure I can do to disable the back light.

Never heard of that option. I think your on the right track with placing a wash cloth or a flap of cardboard taped at the top where you can flip it up to look when you want.

If I am not mistaken, the display only stays on for 30 secs. so the washcloth or cardboard might be the best option. Remember that if you want to check your results on the screen you only have until noon to do so. the "day"on the s9 display goes from noon to noon

Cardboard flap is an excellent idea.

Not sure what results I am supposed to be able to see other than number of hours used as the booklet that comes with the machine only has some elementary set up steps.

You can enable the smart data so that you can see your stats............but not disable the light feature.

All my 'gear' is on a circuit breaker protected outlet strip that I simply turn off when I get up. Besides dousing the screen, I also don't like leaving my phone power supply and other stuff plugged in unattended as they can malfunction, melt and cause a fire hazzard.

Dear Hoganflagle---you can see LOTS more information than the pressure and hours used right on the screen as long as you check it before NOON.. There is a special way that you can get into all that data that the booklet does not tell you about.

You have to push and hold down 2 buttons at the same time to see your Leak rates, your Hi and AHI etc. The two buttons to hold down for 3 seconds are the silver ones--that have the big "i" on it and the silver one with the double check marks on it. Do not know WHY they want to keep this a big secret from us--but there it is!!! It is out there!! LOL!ALso --you can take out your SD card and with the Rescan software you can track your results on your computer. Hope this helps!!

The Resmed 9 is one honey of a machine--it is so quiet and nice --you will love it!! I LOVE MINE!

Carrie

Nope... no way to disable the backlight or turn it down... that is one piece of feedback I'd give Resmed on the design of this machine... as others have suggested, the best option is to find a way to cover the LCD.

Just turn it off. Hold down the on-off button for maybe 3 to 5 seconds and everything goes off.
