questions about Vaseline on mask

Post by pbsd » Sun Jan 16, 2011 7:33 am

Hi all,

I was having some leak issues so I put some Vaseline on the cushion and it worked really well. I saw on this forum that vaseline breaks down the mask. Is that the case and is there anything else you would recommend?

I followed that for several years until I had a spare mask and a need to use some antibiotic ointment which contains petroleum. So I tried vaseline too. My mask survived with no damage at all.

So I think it may depend on the mfg and which materials are used to make the mask. YMMV

There is a cream a called Lanosol. It is used by breastfeeding mothers for dry, cracked, sore nipples. You can find it in the baby deptartment. A small amount goes a long way. Many people on this forum use it. Good luck!

It's actually spelled Lansinoh in case you want to look it up. Purple tube.

I knew I was spelling that wrong. Thanks for the correction and getting the right information out there.

Ok so I purchased lansinoh. Well I should say that I had my wife purchase it I do feel a bit weird about applying nipple cream to my face! But, if it helps me get a good nights rest then I will give it a shot.
