Encore pro software

Post by chicagocard » Wed Dec 14, 2005 8:15 pm

Hello. I'm trying to figure this out. The Encore Pro software costs $199 - is that correct? Then I can "add" MyEncore for free - correct? Will insurance cover the $199? Thanks.

I am not aware of anyone whose insurance covered the price of the software. However, the latest version (1.5) of EncorePro software is available for free from the Software Update Center of the Respironics website:

http://software.respironics.com/cgi-bin ... ge=[Encore]

It does not require you to have purchased a previous version of EncorePro in order to download it, it is the complete version, and it only takes about 5 minutes.

Yes, MyEncore is also free.

You can download the latest beta version of MyEncore (Ver. 15B7) from:

chicagocard, in order to use Encore Pro software to download the Smart Card, you'll also need the specific card reader that works with all that. Many of us have bought the "sliding" card reader at http://www.2factors.com ($30 or less). DT3500 or DT3500 + postal. Either one is the same reader.

Here are topics you might be interested in:

RG or anyone else who knows - Will a Windows 98 be compatible with the 2factors reader and the downloads? My husband has Windows XP office, but I like my Windows 98 and would prefer to use it.

Anyone know?

Win 98 Second Edition, and a USB port should be ok.

Good Luck

If anybody's visited the Respironics download site today, I noticed that they posted two new versions to the XP and 98 versions of 1.5.....they're the "i" versions (1.5i) which stands for "International". They were released on the 14th.

http://software.respironics.com/cgi-bin ... ge=[Encore]

I also noticed this sentence in the description:

"The user further agrees that Encore Pro will be used by a medical professional who has confirmed that they are able to understand the software screens and help files in these languages, upon download of the software."

I don't recall that being in the description prior to this one.

off topic - win98 and win xp

Post by ozij » Fri Dec 16, 2005 6:10 am

Hi Linda
Off topic, but good to know:

If it's just the 98 interface you prefer for your computer, you can get that on an XP by right clicking on the the start button (properties) and asking for "windows classic".

A right click on the desktop ->properties-> themes will let you change the background to classic too...

(Its a coincidence that I just has the following screen open on my computer)

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... figqa.mspx:
Q: Can I reset my Start menu and desktop to the Classic Windows style?

A: The Windows XP Start menu was redesigned to centralize tasks and clean up the desktop. However, if you prefer the Classic Windows style for your desktop and Start menu, you can reset it.

To reset your desktop to Classic Windows style

• Right–click Start, and then click Properties. Click Classic Start menu and click OK.

Wulf, If you are NOT 'a medical professional' you don't have to 'understand the software screens and help files in these languages' in order to download Encore Pro.

Jerry,

I'm under the opinion that the "medical professionals" don't understand them either.....
Like I told you before, when I showed my sleep doc my software printouts, he couldn't (or refused to) believe that I could be doing that good on a pressure of almost half of what he had prescribed and argued that the the software and machine were inaccurate. (and that's where I ended our relationship)

It's also my opinion that the members and readers of this/these forums "understand" a lot more than the medical professionals and DMEs do. It's the difference between "book learnin' " and "street smarts".

CPAPer's have to be in charge of their own therapy.

Merry Christmas and best wishes.

Thanks for all the great information. I downloaded the Encore Pro software and I just want to get this straight, all I need to do now is order a smart card reader? Is http://www.2factors.com the site most of you have used? It sounds good to me...

Again, thanks for the advise.

Napper, yes that's the site. I ordered mine last night. Just in case you are CI (computer illiterate) like I am, I'll try to save you some time.

1. You have to register with an email address and password.
2. They send you an email, you click on it, and you are authenticated (or some other terminology) - I forget.
3. When you go back to the site to order your reader, be sure to sign in "in both places" on the screen. I tried to buy my reader for about an hour before it finally dawned on me to try both sign-ins at the same time.

Duh - slap my grandma.

Good luck.

Now that I have been using my bipap every night for the last nine months, I'm finally ready to try and understand the software aspect of my treatment. After downloading the Encore Pro software, I took the leap and ordered a card reader from the suggested website - and now I'm ready to consume data. Any idea how long it takes for the reader to arrive?

I've begun to read the postings regarding data reports and am somewhat intimidated but I'll give it a shot. Just a few questions - what sort of data can I expect from the card in my machine? Does it register leaks, changes in breathing patterns, or just how often it is used and for what duration? If I'm going to look like I'm going snorkeling on a nightly basis, I want to get the most out of it!

Thanks for all your help - I'm sure I'll be needing a little extra guidance.

napper, you and I are on the same time line. I am just about to order the card reader. I have downloaded all the software - there is also an "add on" program to the Respironics Encore called MyEncore available on cpaptalk.
I'll let you know how it goes when my card reader arrives.

Napper, If you bought your reader for $30.80 (which includes standard shipping), it should take around 8 to 10 days from Hong Kong.

It sounds like several of us are buying at this time. Wishing us all luck with the process. I thank God for my hubby who will take care of my downloading/uploading/etc. It's mindboggling to me.

Unfortunately my husband's technical knowledge only covers turning the computer on and off. Keep me posted on how it's going.
