New DME....

Post by epark300 » Thu Jan 13, 2011 12:13 am

Hello. I am switching to a new DME who hopefully will work with me and my therapy. I have been struggling with issues with my old DME and getting no where. I would like to try a new mask. I have read a lot about the Swift FX also I would like my machine to be able to print out the information needed for leaks etc. Is this something my new provider can do for me or do I go back to the doctor.

You have a data capable machine and you can get a lot of data from it. But be prepared to have the DME look at you like you just grew two heads if you ask, and the doctor may as well. Search in this site for the clinician's manual for your machine and the software you need to download the card for even more detailed data. Your DME won't want you to have this access, doctor may or may not care. But it's your data, you are entitled to it, and no CPAP police will arrest you if you get to the data.

As far as the Swift FX, you're going to have to work with your DME on that. If you are not due for a new mask from your insurance, you may have to buy it yourself (unless you are still in that 30 day window to exchange the mask you use now). It's a GREAT mask, but a bit fiddly to fit properly. Be sure you look at the tips on my blog (see my signature below) so you can successfully fit and use the FX.
