Question on Resmed S9 Autoset

Post by engrdad » Fri Jan 07, 2011 1:52 pm

Just got my new machine... Resmed S9 Autoset with H5i Heated Humidifier and ClimateLine heated tube. Tried it out last night and have a few questions for those who are experienced with this machine.

Due to insurance and other issues, I had to order the machine from a DME (in another state) and have it shipped to me. Therefore, I did not get brief'd on it operations or how it was set up (i.e. pressure, etc...)

1) I have the software but do not have the clinician manual. Any tips on getting this?

2) When I first used the machine last night, the pressure was barely noticable but it was difficult to exhale. I checked and cut the ramp off but it did not make a difference. I got into one menu by pressing both buttons on right of screen at same time and found that the EPR was set to off. After about 10-15 minutes it suddenly started blowing air. I slept for 4 hours and had to cut machine off (daughter called). After that, it went back to barely noticable pressure again and it never got better for remainder of the night. Any tips on what I need to do? FYI... I had the Respironics M-series APAP previously. I knew the tricks for setting pressure, etc. for that machine but not for my new one.

Appreciate any help or advice....

Manual's sent.

On the issue of exhaling being difficult, go in and toy with the EPR settings. When mine came yesterday, EPR was turned off (which is what I like, but others need relief). There is a section in the manual that explains the settings for EPR.

The other issue sounds like the ramp is turned on. I can't do the ramp as I feel like I can't get enough air, so I disabled mine. Again, easy to do once you get into the Clinicians menu.

Good luck!

I see you have a full face mask--did you set the mask type correctly in the menu? If so, auto-start will be disabled because it does not work well with full face masks. If auto-start is set to on and the mask type is something other than full face, what could have happened is that the machine did not turn on (or turned itself off if you turned it on manually) because it did not detect your breathing and keep the pressure going.

After you install the ResScan software, the Clinician's Manual should be here:
"C:\Program Files\ResMed\ResScan3\ResScan Clinician's Manual.pdf"
