the Auto Off set to Off... would be the right way to go... turning it ON... starts it and if you have a large leak will turn the machine off.
It's just a guess... but your leak was getting high before the long turn off... The Auto On being On means that it restarted the machine itself.

Both Auto OFF and Auto ON are set to OFF because I absolutely hate it when mechanical things turn themselves ON and OFF without my explicit help and permission.
Now, if I look at the data, the leak was staring to increase; but it was only about 25 L/min and this is a mask with an intentional leak rate of about 25 L/min at 6 cm of pressure (which is my EPAP) and 29 L/min (which is my IPAP). Now don't ask me why my leak rates are usually so much lower. I haven't the foggiest idea. Resmed doesn't publish the usual +/- margin of error data in the User manual for the FX for some reason. But clearly there's a leak AFTER the mask is back on and the PRS1 is back on at t=3 (which is 5:00 AM Buffalo time) that continues to GROW until I turn the machine off at about 5:20 and fix the leak and restart the machine. I'm pretty sure the 5:20 wake-up is one of the wake-ups that I'm remembering in a clear fashion. It's nice that I get about two really good hours of sleep after fixing that leak too: No leak to speak of, no events except for the OA at the end, and only a bit of snoring and a couple of RERAs around 6:00 (t=4). That two hours of sleep is probably what I've been functioning on all day ...
And it's been a pretty good day too. Made hopping john. Waiting for the hubby to bring some cornmeal to make some cornbread. Shaped homemade cinnamon rolls out of previously made homemade refrigerator yeast dough. Looking forward to having some additional AFS students over for a Southern-style New Years supper tonight. (They'll be here in about 30 minutes).

No necessarily. An autopap may be totally confused by a person's waking breathing pattern, and report non-esxistant apnea and hypopneas during that time.robysue wrote:And my "normal" AHI numbers are likely to be abnormally low because after all, if you are awake, you're much less likely to stop breathing, aren't you?

Agreed. I have had lots of "events" during the time I am awake and reading in bed.ozij wrote:No necessarily. An autopap may be totally confused by a person's waking breathing pattern, and report non-esxistant apnea and hypopneas during that time.

Re: The insomnia monster raises its head again and again ....
Another update for last night.
The short version: Sans Ambien and avoided another disaster. So that's automatically Good News.
But it was just a dicey. I went to bed about 2:00 AM. Almost had to get out of bed at 2:30, but dropped off to sleep just before the "If you're still awake and you think you've been trying to get to sleep for 30 minutes or more" rule kicked in. [NOTE: I'm guessing 2:30 since the only clock in the room is NOT visible from my side of the bed for very obvious reasons.] I did wake up a two or three times. The last time I did have trouble getting back to sleep and did give up and turned the machine off and got up and left the room briefly. Went to the bathroom and sat in the dining room in the semi-dark for a few minutes before going back and putting the mask on and going back to sleep. Encore said this wake up was at about 6:30 and wake-up is at 7:30. And I did get out of bed by 7:35 today. I was surprised that last wake-up where I couldn't get back to sleep was so close to wake-up when I looked in Encore. I really though it was much earlier in the night.
So the mask was on for 5 hours 13 minutes and I'd guess I was actually asleep for about 4 1/2 hours of that time. I can easily call that "less than a disaster" so no Ambien tonight! We're off to go skiing at Holiday Valley in a few minutes. So I'll actually be good and tired physically tonight for once too.
Take care all my ethernet friends.
I'll pop by before my 1:30 bedtime, but not for long.

No---to be clearer: The wake-up when I had enough trouble getting back to sleep to have to get out of bed was about an hour before the alarm went off at 7:30. I know this because I did succeed in going back to bed after about 15 minutes and settling back down and falling asleep in another 15 minutes or so. Which means I finally fell asleep about 30 minutes before that 7:30 wake-up time.BlackSpinner wrote:Is the encore still on summer time?Encore said this wake up was at about 6:30 and wake-up is at 7:30.
