Well, okay. I hesitate to use cpaptalk space for these pics (Johnny, let me know if you want me to remove them), but have been feeling guilty that my previous submissions may have reflected poorly on my state. (Geographical, not mental.) So, lest anyone think Minnesota is a dismal place in wintertime, here's proof to the contrary. (Or, just plain proof, depending upon your perspective.)

Yikes, dsg! The GB Packer folks at Lambeau field have laid claim to being the real, the proud, the sacred, THE frozen tundra. Outside of football, though, I'll admit that pics from Minnesota this time of year actually make me glad to be in Wisconsin! (But I often find myself wishing I were in Boston, one of my very favorite places to visit - time of year dependent, of course).dsg wrote:Eeeek. Frozen tundra.
I'm impressed that you managed to make me feel *better* about winter in Boston!

Yes indeedy, as an avid football fan (not the Pats though -- long story) I'm very aware that the only REAL Frozen Tundra exists in Wisconsin, specifically the hallowed (hard) ground of Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
Nevertheless, all of you who live up in northern Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin and the desolate wasteland of upstate New York (I used to live in Syracuse and Rochester, so I can say that with some authority) have my sincere respect for your ability to survive the months between the beginning of November and the end of March.
Whenever I start grumbling about our winters here in Boston, I think back to the four years I spent in central-western New York and count my blessings.

Believe it or not... they actually have heating coils in that "hard" ground at Lambeau.dsg wrote:Yes indeedy, as an avid football fan (not the Pats though -- long story) I'm very aware that the only REAL Frozen Tundra exists in Wisconsin, specifically the hallowed (hard) ground of Lambeau Field in Green Bay.
Actually my guess is that the phrase "Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field" is probably owned by NFL Films.
I bet during your time in upstate NY you got "piled on" more than a few times. I've heard they measure snow there in feet rather than inches.

Neversleeps,
Thanks for the pictures, it reminds me that our winters here in Iowa could be alot worse!!!!!!
To all others,
Boston is my kinda' town, but am really partial to Cape Cod in the summertime!!!!! Loved the snowman picture!!! Wisconsin is another one of those states that I enjoy in the SUMMER!!!!!
I stayed home today, feeling a little under the weather, haven't been sleeping very well lately (maybe I need to change masks, pressure, I'm not sure).
THANKS FOR BRIGHTENING MY DAY!!!!
Carolyn

I STILL live in upstate NY... heheh. Actually I'm just a few miles east of Niagara Falls. I believe Syracuse actually gets more snow than Buffalo. It's just that Buffalo and surrounding areas get the dreaded Lake Effect snow and they get a lot of snow real fast.
Was it last year we got 5 FEET of snow on christmas eve? I think so

I think the cheeshead yahoo in the "whatever" T-shirt captures the atmosphere in WI well! It's right up there with "What? Me Worry?"neversleeps wrote:Who are you going to believe? Beth --transplanted southerner via Ga, Ala, and Virginia (who won't admit to it) now living in WI . How the heck did I end up here?
What? 20 degrees? It's a heat wave! Yahoo!
Well I was born in the huge metropolis of Watertown Minnesota(I don't think it even shows up on maps), but after seeing these photos, I will have to call my parents and thank them...again....for moving me out of there to California when I was 3 years old.
Of course since then I split the difference and moved to the Seattle area. Still lots of Norskys but a whole lot nicer weather than my old home town.

Went snowmobiling last Friday in Redfield, NY (Tug Hill Plateau) and they had 3-4' of snow in the woods. Been snowing on and off all week up there with another storm on the way...heading back up Saturday for an overnight...have CPAP, will travel.
