Hi,
well thanks for all the advice here but I must say that I am not satisfied at all with the spirit software but this is probably due to the fact I don't know how to use it and don't know what i'm looking at all those post about the 420e after I bought the spirit make me wonder if the spirit is even what i need maby you wonder folks can help me decide if I totally wasted $900.thanks this is the results

AHI 9.2
AI 0.6
HI 8.6 95th 10.8 median8.2 max12.0

These #'s I don't under stand but from the post I've read could this be central apn.

during the slp.study I was titr. @7.0cmho2 the events were 11.7 and 19 the oxygen level was 85% I don't have the full report will be getting it soon

thanks

Hi doa,
Your #s look just like mine with the Spirit AI .8 , HI 13.2 , AHI 14. With the 420 they are all less than 1. Did you have many central apneas during your study? I did. The Spirit just doesnt know what to do with them IMHO. The docs just want to up my pressure . All that does is give me gas and a headache. My study shows many central apneas. I'm keeping the data for the doc for proof and buying a 420E.

Cheers,

Chris

Spirit HI

Might very well be the Spirit is not well suited for you. The Spirit will not (reactively) trigger on a hypopnea unless it is concomitant with a flow limitation or snore. Rather the Spirit will try to pattern-discern obstructive precursors prior to these "stand-alone" hypopneas so that it can prevent them in advance with adequate pressures. However, that approach just doesn't work for all patients (what AutoPAP algoritm does, rhetorically speaking?).

Can you see roughly what pressure your Spirit happens to be at when those unaddressed hypopneas occur? If quite a few of those unaddressed hypopneas happen to occur close to the low end of your pressure range, you may have a simple recourse: you can experimentally raise your bottom AutoPAP pressure and see if those hypopneas are addressed by that new higher "bottom-end" AutoPAP pressure. If your AI, HI, and/or AHI goes down because of this experiment, then these were obstructive hypopneas and you have adequately compensated for a slight machine-to-patient incompatibility. Conversely, if your AI, HI, and/or AHI increase, then you are, indeed, pressure-inducing central sleep events and should consider a RemStar Auto or 420e----or even experimentally running your Spirit as a fixed pressure CPAP while still recording overnight data.

Good luck!

More screwy phpBB automatically logging me out? The above post was by -SWS while fully logged in. After a fair amount of typing it just inadvertently logged me out and submitted my post as "guest" instead of the "-SWS" I was logged in as. I have cookies and security settings allowed for this site.

I have seen other guests experience this as well while trying to post.

Any suggestions, forum admin????

I also get a PMMadapter comm error when I first open the prog. and the floppy drive kickes in about every 10 sec. I put a disc. in and stopped that.
