Her jaws seemed reasonably well-developed and in fairly recent photographs she was only slightly overweight.

I would not suspect obstructive sleep apnea. Cocaine and/or alcohol use - I don't know.

I just read that she suffered a grand mal seizure a month ago and was taking medication for seizures. She lowered her own dosage recently. It sounds as if she may have died from complications from seizures or from whatever caused them in the first place.

The seizures, per se, would not cause her death. Seizures are symptoms of something bad, like a brain tumor or ruptured blood vessel, or brain malfunctions, which could be the cause of death. Or, the seizures could have been triggered, but not necessarily caused, by a drop in oxygen from an apnea event. From what I find SA itself does not usually cause death, but it can trigger several other types of conditions which then cause death, such as heart attack. Epileptic seizures, which she probably had based on the comment about medication, are seldom associated with death. Seizures are a symptom, not a condition. In epileptic seizures it is a symptom of brain neurons misfiring and short circuiting. Those same misfirings and short circuits apparently on rare occasion have caused death by stopping the heart or breathing. Most epileptic seizure deaths are the result of an accident, such as drowning, caused by the person going unconscious.
