Any way to buy a CPAP without prescription?

Post by jcolinzheng » Sat May 16, 2009 8:47 pm

I'm trying to buy a CPAP for my father, who does not live in the US. (He already has a CPAP, but needs another to use at a different place, so there shouldn't be any problem with adjusting pressure etc.)

Since he has no prescription from a US registered doctor, how can I buy CPAP online?
All online shops require you fax the prescription, or send an email containing a softcopy...

I will very very much appreciate your inputs....

Someone suggested to me that I could use someone else's prescription...ie, a softcopy.
But I don't have any friend who has sleep apnea!

I'm wondering, if anyone here would be kind enough to help out....Maybe this sounds a bit ridiculous, but whatelse can I do...

There are plenty of them available on Craigslist. I picked up my machine off craigslist with less than 50 hours on it for $85.00 ( basically brand new)

This. Or get one out of the newspaper. If you buy from an individual, there is no need for a prescription.

What country is your dad in? What country are you in?
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

I found this site for used CPAP machines. I guess because they are second hand, they can be sold without a prescription. I haven't used any (personally) besides the Respironics M Series w/ Humidifier, but there are several good brands out there. I used to repair medical equipment before I had sleep apnea and rarely saw DeVilbiss and Respironics in for service. Quite a few Invacare's but this was several years ago. Most needed basic work like routine cleanings and such.

I'm currently looking into getting a 12volt adapter for my machine(s) so that I can power them with a battery (most likely use an old cleaned up car battery or my "jump" start pack with battery inside) when the power goes out and take it with me when I hike during the summer.

This is the site I came across though:

w w w . s e c o n d w i n d c p a p . c o m / (it won't let me post links )

Looks pretty legit and I'll probably be picking one up myself soon.

I have bought a back up machine from SecondWind and they were extremely helpful and shipped it to Australia but I did need to email them a copy of my doctor's script before I could buy from them.

You can buy CPAP with out a prescription on CPAP.com, just check the 'Contact my doctor' box and CPAP.com pretends to find a prescription for you.

I see a problem here unless the products carry mfg warranty, or other insurance. What if the user dies when using it?

Do your homework, is is really pretty easy to buy and sell CPAP - either locally or even internationally if you have PayPal and credibility.

Check this websites: kijiji DOT com 9a subsidiary of eBay.com), Bonanza DOT com and the very popular Craiglist

Howvere you need to wait if you are very particular about certain brand or model, but you can always find one if you are resourceful and know how to do a Google
