What is the best pressure?

I've been using CPAP for about 6 months. I feel good and thnk it has helped me a lot. My AHI's are always 2 or less. Full face mask, ResMed S9, prescribed pressure of 15.

Recently I started feeling bloated with swallowed air in the morning, so I started lowering the pressure. Now I'm down to 10 and the bloating is gone, my AHIs are stll under 2, and I still feel good.

My question is whether I should keep on lowering the pressure until the AHIs go up. Is that a reasonable way to arrive at the optimum pressure?

Technically that should work but may not be 100% accurate. The best thing you could do is titrate yourself. I titration is where you use an autoset CPAP machine for a week or so. THe Autoset adjusts to exactly how much air you need at the moment. At the end of the week you download the information and it tells you your 95 percentile pressure which is considered the best pressure for you. Now getting a hold of a autoset and being able to download it is the problem. But if you ask around you may be able to find someone who has one.

Which S9 do you have? Elite, AutoSet or Escape?

Your AHI is made up of Apneas--obstructive and central, and Hypopneas. It would be helpful to know the breakdown, as you adjust your pressure.
