It Has Been A While

Post by OceanGoingGal » Wed Dec 15, 2010 7:17 am

Hi Everyone!! It has been a while since I have been in as I have been busy. I was gone leading a group on a cruise. I know, tough duty but someone has to do it. It was my first trip as Group Escort. I guess I did okay because the agency owner called and told me I was going to be the person to do most of the escorting. For this my cruise is paid for and I get paid to cruise. Someone pinch me please I think I am dreaming. She want me to organise some short getaways. The on I just escorted was called "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" There were two men in this group. They had fun!!!
As for my OSA treatment. A while ago I changed my pressure to 12, up one point from my perscribed 11. I have been sleeping very well and feel like a million bucks!! Life is good but for the time being cooooooold!! Even here in central Florida I am freezing my behind off. It has been getting down into the 20's. As a gal from New England I can weather that without much problem. After all I am a veteran of temps that go to minus 40.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thankgiving. I worked 16 hours that day with Developmental Disabilities clients. I only had two guys and we had a great day feasting on the meal that was provided for us. I have volunteered to work on Christmas day too. So far I have not got my schedule for the day.
I was saddened to hear of the loss of SnoreDog. He was well loved in these pages. All of you stay well and have wonderful holidays with you beloved families and friends.

Laura

Welcome Home Laura
We missed you, but you didn't miss much here. There has been a lot of squabling over the trolls that invaded the chat room, but easiest way to keep out of it is to stay away from the chatroom entirely. You can catch up by reading the posts I'm sure. We missed your wit and sunny smile...sounds like you had a "great" time on your cruises....good for you. A change of pace and scenery will have done you a world of good.
Happy you are back!
Cheers
Nan

Looks like I'm not the only one that was away from the forum for a while! Glad to see you back too.
The cruise sounds like it was fun, although I don't think I'll ever go on a cruise - I would be too worried! Especially after that cruise ship lost power at sea a month or two ago - yikes!

Glad your cruise was fun though

Hi Joe, Just noticed that you are from near my hometown of Melrose. Please do not write off a cruise vacation. Incidents such as happened to the Splendor are very rare. The media ALWAYS print it in a very negative view. Did you notice how fast the incident left the news when the Splendor finally arrived in San Diego and the guests disembarked smiling and in good spirits? I am willing to bet the horde of ambulance chasing lawyers vanished even faster when there was no scent of a hefty lawsuit. When something happens at sea the decisions made by the Captain are always in favor of the safety of the guests. Also in hurricane season the Captain will always change the course of the ship to be sure all guests are kept safe. As for folks "falling" off a ship that does not happen unless someone is climbing where they should not be. In most cases it is a safe bet that alcohol was involved. In any case I just wanted to say that cruising is very fun and ships are the safest form of travel.

And if you stick to cruising in the Pacific (at least during winter), those storms are usually easier for the ships to avoid. And if you get motion sickness, they give out SeaCalm (basically dramamine) by the handful. I had to take it the entire 21 days of my cruise (never did get my sea legs), but it was worth it. I had the time of my life cruising across the Pacific and spent 5 days in Hawaii.

Always glad to hear when someone has been missing a while that it's because they've been enjoying good sleep and out living life to the fullest. I'm not a cruiser either, but if I got it free and was paid to do it, I just might have a change of heart. Enjoy!
