EPR means the pressure is reduced when you start to exhale, then comes back full when you are ready to inhale. It's a comfort thing. Usually you can set it for 2 or 3 different levels of relief. I like it for ease of breathing, but I don't see any difference in aerophagia without it.

Get a dog to blame it on...

I may try adjusting the EPR, but I understand the exhale pressure is there to open the airway on exhaling, so if changing it ups my AHI, then I may be forced to put up with my insides acting like a wind tunnel.

That's at the top of my list!

Someone suggested that the Hybrid mask helped him after the Mirage Liberty did the same thing - seemed to irritate sinuses, forcing mouthbreathing, so that's my first choice to try when I'm up for a new one.

I'm hoping that the nice mailman brings my PapCap in the next day or so to see if that helps. The pantyhose leg kinda works to keep my mouth shut some, so think a chin strap will help a lot.

Yeah, I'm having this, too. Been on CPAP for a week (auto settings right now). It was OK a few nights, but it's been really bad a few nights, too (like last night). I felt like a blimp when I woke up in the middle of the night, and when I look at myself in the mirror, my stomach looks like it's acquired its own zip code. I sure hope this goes away!

What sort of mask are you on now?
MIrage Liberty - and right now I'm switching between the large/small mask and medium/small pillows to see what works best. Last night it was the small mask, medium pillows and 4.5 humidity. One pillow kept dislodging and I have a feeling the humidity was too high - either that or my nose was running and I was drooling all night LOL.

Tonight I'll lower humidity to 4.0 and use small pillows, but last night - or actually 5am this morning, I woke, once again to the feeling of sucking air through a coffee stirrer stick, HOWEVER my mouth wasn't as dry as usual.

Starting to think my nose just doesn't like the nasal pillows cuz as soon as I take the mask off, I have nasal passages like an abandoned freeway!

Cheers,
xena

I couldn't stand the pillows. I reluctantly tried the nasal cradles with the Optilife mask; I love the cradle. I have a small nose and it allows my nose to just sit in the cradle.
Thanks

Nonsense! You may be lucky enough for it to go away, but for some of us it doesn't and changing masks 12 times doesn't help, either. It has nothing to do with swallowing air, it has more to do with air being pushed past the lower esophageal sphinter. I have air blown through me all night and trapped in my intestines to be released through out the day.
